Very Sharp - just like in the video
The knife is beautiful, and incredibly sharp. I just got it, so I haven't used it yet, and do not have a history of how long the edge stays sharp. However, I did briefly test the sharpness by cutting through a piece of paper. It went through it like butter - just like in the videos. I think the sharpness of this knife is probably due to the small edge angle that it has. The literature provided says that the half angle of the edge is between 8 and 12 degrees. This makes the total angle between 16 and 24 degrees. Most utility knives are around 40 degrees total and some around 30 degrees.

Great value for the money
This knife is a real value. It's really sharp and isn't afraid of the toughest steak. It's a little big for a steak knife but it handles very well. It looks really old fashioned so you can pretend you're a cowboy when you're cutting your steak. It might be a little big for some people but I can handle it very well and I'm not that big so you should be okay using it. Just be sure to get enough knives for everyone or you'll have to wait your turn using it.

A product to have!
This item is fantastic! It’s everything that the infomercial claimed it is! I may have to order one for each of my family members for their Christmas present!

Very sharp but no sheath. Better for meat than vegetables. Use an 8" kitchen knife for veggies.
Yes it is sharp, however, it does not come with any type of sheath. You can not put it in a drawer and must hang it up. I bought magnetic strips in order to place it on the wall. You can buy a leather sheath from the company, but, other sharp knives I have purchased have come with at least a plastic sheath so it can be stored in a drawer. Trying to keep it in the box it comes in is tedious because it fits very snugly and is difficult to extricate.

Good price, fast delivery.
It's sharp. Kinda awesome looking, too. I'm keeping it. I first saw this on a FB ad for less money, but the shipping brought it up to the same price, and I have had bad luck buying products from FB vendors. Never a problem on Amazon.

Great knife!
Love this knife; works beautifully. I only wish it had a protective sleeve to store it in my drawer. The leather one is too bulky. I've had to store it in the original box.

Fake Japanese Knife is So-so
Overall, cuts well, but definitely a marketing gimmick. Dangerously sharp edges and I don't mean the blade itself (which is obviously sharp), but rather the lower rear corner of the knife comes to a very sharp point for no good reason! Also, the hole in the knife is stupid and useless. The handle is meh, especially when compared to similar knifes costing the same price. Overall, its a $15 knife being sold for $35+. Cannot attest to the longevity of the blade sharpness, as I returned it right away. Not worth the money, IMHO.

Not made in Japan and not made by Japanese masters but it is SHARP out of the box
The knife is sharp, very sharp. In fact it registers a respectable score of 178 which was repeatable on my BESS certified scale. For perspective, that is in the range of a utility razor blade which is sharper than the range of high-end cutlery. So you're asking, why only four stars then....and the answer is because the Matsato site describes the knife as "crafted using traditional Japanese methods" and "One of the reasons the Matsato knife performs so well is becauseit’s made from premium Japanese stainless steel." but it is made in china which casts doubt on the origins of the steel used and the longevity of the blade.
