Improvement over my old laptop's wi-fi
My laptop from years back only supported 2.4g and 802.11g. My home Wi-Fi is 300 Mbps so I bought this to at least improve my laptop internet connection speed. A 6x improvement was observed from 30 to 190 Mbps. Works as intended. Highly recommended if you have an older device and a high-bandwidth internet service.

Not for Mac
The title states this work will with macOS. I have Big Sur OS and this did not work at all. That did not even try to work and there are no macOS instructions.

No internet No Driver included
Did not expect to need a Internet connection for this device to become active. My systems are on the farm in BFE and not easy to get a connection way the hell out here. Could not use unit which does work well but it would have been easier if it had some warning on it saying driver installation internet connection needed. The damn this is for the internet connection!

WiFi dongle - dual band - USB connection
I think I have found that there are USB dongles for a lot more technologies than there are spots to plug them in!This one - Edimax - provides WiFi 5 for devices that are able to use that version of it. It also provides both 2.4 and 5Ghz frequencies (useful in congested WiFi areas). As with almost every USB dongle, you plug it in and it works (I did find some that wanted drivers on a mini-CD but that's a different review). What makes this a bit more special is that it supports the normal Windows OS releases - but there's more - this will also handle Mac OS machines too.Aside from these - there is no indication on the device except for the Edimax name. Nothing on the USB sleeve indicating it was WiFi (not bluetooth or mousejiggler). There is a model number imprinted on the metal USB sleeve that can be used to identify what this device actually does. For me, it is a great way to restore functionality and to move 'forward' to WiFi 5 without replacing my computer. 5 stars.

SUPPORTS Windows 10/11 (Driver Installation Needed)
Required software not included, download instructions in the box, installed easily but need to download on different computer if not having an Internet connection. I store the software on a USB Thumb/Flash drive.

Pretty awful experience
When my school upgraded their wireless connection my laptop kept crashing. Come to find out my wireless card didn't like that very much. Nonetheless, this was supposed to be a quick viable fix. The connection is awful. I feel like I'm using dial up again.. 🤦🏽

You have to download a driver at least for Win 10
Windows to him doesn’t appear to have a driver for this device to automatically install it. It recognizes that it exists but you have to install a driver for it to actually work. Might work OK with windows 11 but not with the two windows 10 machines that I tried it with.

Doesn't support modern Linux kernels
At the time of writing (Sept '23), this is not auto-detected by a Linux 6.1.y kernel. There are out-of-tree drivers, but you have to compile them. Choose something else if you're planning to use this in Linux
