Q: Can anyone clarify absolutely that this unit will play us region 1 blu ray as there are conflicting answers here....

It may play region A Blu-Rays, you will have to check. Some Panasonic Blu-Ray players have a neat hack to them. Try this hack, which works for mine... Panasonic DMP-BD80 Blu Ray Region Hack for playing multi-region Blu-rays.... 1. Put Region A Disc in Player, and close the tray. 2. As its loading, keep pressing the 'Functions' button until the 'Function Menu' comes up. 3. The 'Top Menu' button should already be highlighted. Press the number '1' button a few times until the Blu Ray starts playing. Congratulations! You have changed the region!!! When you open the tray, it will automatically go back to Region B.

Q: Is it a region free bluray player ?

No. It's a UK region BluRay player and a region free DVD player.

Q: When i try to connect to youtube or bbc iplayer it says ‘the webpage *website url* might be temporarily down or have moved..’ how do i make it work?

My own setup connects to the web by wifi through the tv not the blue ray player so I would check your tv connectivity because the input comes through the tv not th BRplayer
