If you want to go Alkaline - this is your starter guide!
I have no idea why Amazon would allow a person to rate a book a zero based on price. Ignore that one and know that this book is THE one book that makes going alkaline easy. I found this book for $28 from a UK seller and can't say enough about how easy this makes changing your diet to include alkaline choices. I have bought other books on the subject but all those really were is a listing of the acid/alkaline chart of each food.This book has guides to stocking your pantry, cleanses, easy recipes, shopping guides and is chock full of all the information you need to start introducing a new way of eating into your life without feeling like you are on a specific diet. Fabulous and highly recommend. I know why celebrities are touting this book as a Beauty and Health bible. It's fabulous and makes it easy for us to incorporate alkaline foods and recipes into our daily lives!!

Great book for many health needs
Having just recently been diagnosed with "worrisome" bone density and given options not to exciting to think about, research online led me to this book. Alkalinity is an important part of bone density. Having thought myself a healthy eater found most of my healthy food tends to run acidic in nature. This book has simplified eating in a healthy way and still getting to eat my meat and potatoes. Balance is the key. The only disappointment in this book is that living in a small rural community, we do not have access to some of the ingredients needed for recipes here. However, there are more than enough recipes to work with easily and just the knowledge provided in the first 1/3 of the book pays for itself in good food choices at the grocery store. Finally, the authors will correspond with you if you have any questions.

Vegetarian/Vegan Alkaline-slanted Cookbook
First, this is a gorgeous book with beautiful photos of nearly every recipe. I would describe it as a vegetarian/vegan cookbook leaning heavily toward alkalinity. Why this description? There are 125 recipes by my count, with about 28 that are non-vegan because they include ingredients like eggs, feta, chevre, haloumi, and goat or sheep's yogurt. Dairy is, of course, acidic. But if you ignore those, the roughly 97 that are left are either very alkaline, or lean heavily toward alkalinity. Vegan recipes are clearly marked with a symbol, so they're easy to spot. Other notations are heart symbols, indicating how alkaline-forming an entry is.The recipes begin with a cleanse, some juices, a breakfast section, followed by appetizers and soups, salads and dressings, main dishes, snacks and breads, and ending with desserts. I've tried two entrées: Tomato and Mushroom Dial, plus Spicy Bean Berbers with Cajun Wedges and Superslaw. Both are excellent! Of the soups, I loved the Tomato, Coconut, and Chili as well as the White Gazpacho. These recipes are both very flavorful. I haven't tried the salads or the desserts because I have plenty of good salad recipes and I don't eat dessert. Mainly I bought this book for some alkaline main dishes and soups. These did not disappoint me.There's only one thing that really bothered me about this cookbook. Why did the authors choose to use xylitol as a sweetener and not stevia? Web MD warns that xylitol can cause diarrhea and is toxic to dogs. Stevia is a safer substitute.

Great advice & recipes, even for someone with 2 kids and a sugar addiction!
I bought this book to try and boost my immunity and relieve the terrible allergies that come with living in the Midwest. Some reviews criticized it for including dairy or for being a detox program... That's not how the book is setup at all. It does include limited dairy like goat cheese as a topping here and there, but that's in and certainly up to you to exclude. It does have a detox section, but that's a suggestion if you want to do a full cleanse before embarking on the alkaline diet as a lifestyle. After the detox/cleanse, you're supposed to pick and choose from the "non-cleanse" recipes as you wish.I made meals out of this book for week for my family, and while some things looked funny, there were no complaints. After a birthday party this weekend full of cake, ice cream, and everything gluten and dairy-laden, I definitely felt the difference the next morning - full of congestion, drainage, and overall sluggishness. Those symptoms were going away while I ate on this diet, so it's definitely worth breaking some bad habits and following this book's guidelines.

Beautiful photos, content not as useful as I'd desired
This book has lovely photos of food and many recipes. It's not the fault of the compilers, but, because I am unable to eat nuts and seeds, too many of the recipes are not helpful for me.I wanted a handy reference to alkaline content and the information is in the book, but it is not "Alkaline Eating for Dummies" as I'd hoped it would be. (I made up that title to describe how unfamiliar I am with that style of eating and how simply the information needs to be conveyed to me.) It may be that it is information overload for me.However, to repeat myself, the information is in the book, just not as handy as I'd hoped.

Excellent Choice if Interested in Knowing More about an Alkaline Diet Plan
I have been on the Holistic and healthy living lifestyle for many years. Recently interested in getting more Alkaline balance in my diet.Very satisfied with this book. It is well laid out. Beautiful illustrations, easy to follow game plan. Delicious recipes. I have tried almost all of them. Absolutely in LOVE with the stuffed zucchini. Get cravings for it. Well worth the money.

Honestly Excellent Book!
This book is fantastic! I honestly have nothing bad to say. The recipes, nutritional information, photography, design and overall quality of the book is excellent. I was not excited about having to order out of the country, but it was well worth the longer delivery time. The seller accidentally sent the wrong book at first.They were very apologetic. They sent the correct book as fast as possible and let me keep the other book, which is also excellent. Get this book!
