runs way better now!
I was hesitant to install, but had a carburetor leak, so I thought I might as well do the 3x3 box mod. I was perfectly happy with the power before the change, but now it runs smoother and more even.It starts easier and I can take it out of choke faster. It is not a major change in the peak power, but a big change to power delivery and over all engine smoothness and performance.

Great improvement in throttle response
I think the 3x3 mod and rejet is a must do for the DRZ400. It's not the easiest job, as getting the carb out of the bike is a pain, but definitely worth it. I am decently handy, and was able to do it without too many issues. There are plenty of videos on youtube that walk you through the steps. I would definitely recommend watching those (and reading through the comments for tips) if you are new to working on carbs. The bike runs significantly better after the install. Some more power and much better throttle response.

WOW, don't wait!
I put off adding the Jet kit to my DRZ400 for over a year. Mainly because I was intimidated by the carburetor. I thought there must be a lot that could go wrong and it wouldn't be worth it anyway. Boy was I wrong. Installation instructions were easy to follow; there are several youtube videos as well. I installed the needle and jets with no problem. It was kind of interesting to see exactly how it worked. Turns out it's not magic :)What you really want to know, did it add power? YES. I don't have access to a dyno to prove how much, but the feeling is night and day. The big thing is the throttle response; absolutely no hesitation and even more power along the entire power band. This is a no brainer!

worth the time and effort.
Have to say I was skeptical at first after reading a lot of reviews and forums didn't think that this would really make much of a difference boy was I wrong. Did not realize how much throttle response i was lacking as well as power. You won't see results with stock exhaust so you will need to look into a new system or modifying the current one. very simple to install if you are handy with the wrench. Do yourself a favor read into the process just a little and it will be a walk in the park also look into ordering an extended throttle screw makes it a little easier to adjust and you will be in business. In the instructions it says that you can install everything without completely removing the carburetor but it really wasn't that difficult and I found it much more comfortable to work on my bench so you can be careful not to lose the tiny springs and washers

Awesome, watch for small parts per directions
2003 DR Z400 was all stock and ran horribly. Contemplated forever just taking the carb off and cleaning it, spending 80 bucks on a jet kit or just ordering $10 worth of jets to do the 3x3 air box mod. Got the kit, pulled the carb (directions tell you how to do it on the bike) and since my wife was out of town and I had 2 days for the gas smell to get out of the house I did it all on the kitchen counter instead of in the 110 degree garage. Carb was all gunked up so cleaned it well first then followed the simple directions and used the jets, needle and needle setting for my elevation, 3x3 mod and stock exhaust. As the directions note there is a TINY o-ring that falls out when you remove the top cap. Don’t know how you would not lose it / get it back In if you do this on the bike. (Also a small spring you can lose) The directions seem to show the o-ring goes around one of the cap screws but it goes in the small indention next to a screw. Put it all together then cut the air box. I’ve seen all kinds of suggestions on how to do it but I marked where to cut, BRIEFLY heated one side at a time with a micro torch and simply cut it with a razor knife. Literally cut like warm butter, took 2 minutes and no mess. Bike now runs great, has quicker response and slightly more power. Was it just the carb clean, who knows, don’t care because my problems are solved. (You also have to remove a plug to get at an adjustment screw. I also bought an extended screw off eBay so it could be adjusted once reassembled. I set it per instructions then never had to mess with it anyway)

Great Product, Easy Install
After reading lots of reviews, i decided to purchase the JD Jet kit and could not be happier. Ater getting the kit in the mail i was able to follow the instructions very easily and had no issues in getting it installed in my DRZ400S. I called the support number and spoke to the lady and advised her of my location and riding conditions and she made sure i used the correct needle and jets. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to jet their bike to use JD Jet Kits.

Perfect fit, great kit
Used this on my DRZ400S, stock with MRD full exhaust. Used the 170 main and blue needle on the 4th clip @ 3k above sea level. Fuel screw turned out 2.5 turns. Install was very easy, instructions provided were to the point. Watch a youtube video if you're unsure of how to install these. Once you're in the carb it's a very quick job. Took me less than 10 minutes to install, and another ~20 mins to get the carb off the bike.
