Great for seeing photo paper differences!
I just got the Canon Pixma iP8720 Printer and it came with a high-gloss sample pack (Photo Paper Plus Glossy II - 3 photo papers 8.5x11 ). I also purchased this Sample Pack to try out the Semi-Gloss, Luster, Platinum, and Premium Matte. Here are my thoughts on this pack and the printer sample, and ordered from most favorite to least favorite (I printed a high contrast, very colorful image of blown glass art on each of these papers to determine my ratings/comparison):1. Luster - This photo paper looks similar to the Semi-Gloss at face value, but it also seems to have a rougher texture, more like the matte. I really like this because it doesn't get a huge, bright glare in bright light, but enough to make it still look dynamic. Overall, a very high quality glossy paper while still maintaining texture.2. Pro Platinum - This paper has a high gloss finish, but looks very clean, and seemed reflective than the Glossy II, which I like. A great paper if you want that super glossy look. The colors from my photo look incredible on this paper.3. Premium Matte - I actually really love the look of this matte. For being matte, the colors and sharpness still look very, very good. Not quite as good as the glossy papers, but it still is a great color quality. I found it impressive that the colors look almost the same as the glossy ones, but having no reflection and added texture really made the print look interesting! I assume putting it under a glass frame would really enhance prints on this paper, too.4. Semi-Gloss - This semi-gloss does look really, really good, but personally I prefer the Luster if I'm going for a semi-gloss finish. I'd say the glossiness of this semi-gloss and the luster are exceptionally close, BUT the semi-gloss lacks the texture that the luster has. It is much smoother though, in case you prefer less texture.5. Photo Paper Plus Glossy II - This one is my least favorite. Although it is a high-gloss, I think the Pro Platinum produced a much better glossy photo than this Glossy II. Overall, it did still produced a great print.I hope that this review helps you. These are my personal opinions about each type of photo paper, but I would highly recommend ordering this sample pack to determine what type of paper you want print with!! If you do purchase this, I would definitely encourage you to print the same photo on all 4 types so you can really get a good idea of the differences between them.

Highly recommend if you are indecisive and want to test them out first
I have been testing out so many papers to use for greeting cards and art prints for my business and I am so glad to have come across this sampler pack. Not only it is cheap but it comes with a total of 20sheets and 4 different style. This allowed me to test out prints without having to spend so much and being stuck with a huge amount of paper. On the first picture, you can see how full and vibrant the pictures are compare to the cut up cards on the second picture ( I used 100lb digital smooth card stock) which came out very dull and noisy compare to the vibrant and full color of the canon paper. The only downside is the canon paper isn’t as think as the 100lb-110lb paper that I originally wanted for my greeting cards but the quality is just so great and I couldn’t pass it up.Luster- definitely has a great texture and not to glossy.Semi-gloss- no texture and slightly glossyPlatinum- pretty glossy and thicker paperMatte- semi thick and non glossy.

It works well on both Canon and Epson printers, I think.
This is good photo paper. I have used it on a Canon MG6820 and an Epson ET-8550. On both printers, the images were sharp and the colors were reasonably accurate. Color accuracy with this paper on the Epson printer was very good, more than acceptable results. On non-Canon printers especially with better middle to upper tier printers, you will have to experiment a bit with the printer settings to get optimal results. But high quality prints are possible with this paper and Epson printers. But very good prints are possible with little work on Epson printers.

Good starter pack
I've recently decided to try my hand at printing my pictures, and when I was looking for paper there were all sorts of options. I really liked this pack because it allowed me to print a few pictures to the different types of paper and draw my own conclusions on what works best for what. I appreciate that Canon didn't force me to buy multiple larger packs for each style.

Exceeded my expectations!
This is an excellent sample pack to decide which type of photo paper you like. My beloved Epson photo printer bit the dust after many, many years and it was just getting too difficult to find the ink. So my better half bought a Canon. I knew from my Epson that like branded paper prints better on the same brand of printer. I bought this sampler pack just to play with our new printer and it exceeded my expectations. I have never and would have never bought matte paper if it hadn’t been included and thankful it was. Portraits are crisp and just give you that “WOW”. All my photos turned out excellent on each sample. The luster finish reminds me of the same paper photos used to be printed on years ago. Not flimsy, thin, basic photo paper.

Good Paper
I have a love/hate thing with Canon. I think they are arrogant. I've had two smaller printers (4500's) that lasted pretty well but then all of a sudden they both just quit (one quit bought another one same model and a couple of years later it just died). I purchased a Pro 9500 about 10 years ago, ran MAYBE 100 sheets of paper through it and admit it sat for several years but then it up and quit as well. Tried everything to no avail. I bought a brand new still in the box never used Pro 100 on Craig's and so far really really like it. I think it is hard to beat Canon paper except for the price. On sale it's good.
