Fascinating Book
I admit that I am a bit obsessed with trying to understand the Holocaust and why it happened. This book has aided me in that quest. I hope to read more history books from this author in the future.

Hate Mongering Continues Today
Auschwitz is now a world renowned museum in remembrance of those who lost their lives there. Millions upon Millions of people from all over the world have visited there. It stands as a symbol of “Crimes Against Humanity” that rebukes anti-semitism, even though hatred continues to run rampant throughout the world. One would think that it would have been obvious at the Nuremberg Trials that all parties involved with the treatment of the prisoners in Auschwitz’s would have been found guilty and sentenced to death. However, a few of the most evil among them escaped to live another day.We, as a people of the world, would learn lessons from Auschwitz and other WWII concentrations camps. But, one wonders whether we have learned anything at all.Good information included in this Hourly History.

A shadow that lingers
The more I read about World War II the more I realize that the Nazis took their playbook straight from the Satan himself. Words can't describe how inhumane and insidious Auschwitz stood for. A monument of death and suffering to the fullest extent. After all these years you would hope that love would be more widely accepted between people of any race after seeing what unfolded in World War II, and particularly concentration camps. But, unfortunately hatred is still alive today and as this book says in the end that "Auschwitz shadow lives on."

Superficial.
Almost childishly simplistic and superficial. Not what the title purports to be.

Very informative
I was stationed in West Berlin in the US Army from 1975-1978 and I saw much of what was spoken of in this book, although when Myself and another soldier went to Dachau it was shocking to see even the tourist version after it had been made a tour site. The book brings the atrocities to an easy to read, short book that summarizes what happened there. Will the people of this world ever learn that we need each other?

Truths about Auswitz that's not fully known.
The book was well written, but I hit some snags when reading it, and had to go back & read a couple of pages a second time before I understood it. The book opened my eyes to the difference between a Concentration Camp & a Death Camp. It also shed some light on the liberating of Auschwitz when the Russians & Americans were getting nearer, and how the prisoners had to make a choice to leave & head towards Germany with the guards, or stay there & wait. Interesting too that when the Russians arrived they basically turned their backs on the remaining prisoners & fled when they saw the mass graves. It was the Americans who dealt with the situation, the mention of the Frank family was interesting & tragic.

An astonishing compilation of the horrifying events by a “civilized” people.
It is very hard to understand how a highly educated population could justify their tortuous behavior against a small population of civilized people. The brutality they performed is unimaginable.

This is a book filled with important need-to-know information that can be read in an hour
The "Hourly History" series is excellent. Every Friday, a new free history book is sent to people like me who simply say they want to receive the books. The books are filled with important historical information. The historical facts are comprehensive, yet they are written so that the entire book with all its significant information can be read in an hour. This book tells how what many people considered a very civilized nation was filled with prejudice, how the prejudice developed, about Adolf Hitler and his anger against Jews, how the Nazis ceased power in Germany and the Germans acquiesced to his rule, the development of the Nazi’s “Final Solution” to brutally murder all Jews, what is Auschwitz where a million innocent people young and old were murdered making it the most notorious German concentration camp, life in Auschwitz, and the liberation of some of the inhabitants, and the judgment upon the German people. This book contains information that people need to know to help create a society where such horrors would cease.
