Is the filter a standard size? If so, what size?

This has 2 filters, a pleated inner and an outer filter. The outer is 595mm(23.425") x 295mm(11.614") x 24.5mm(0.965"). I haven't replaced mine yet, but notice there is ¼" or more room in the width over what came with the system.

do you have to use the controller to control the machine or is there an option to do it manually

You can do it set power manually but you can’t set timer manually

Will this work outdoors?

It could be run outdoors but I don't know why you would do that. Its purpose is to clean the air in an indoors area, most often to remove sawdust and particles from the air in a woodworking shop.
