Can I use this for a mains ceiling light (5w led bulb)?

Yes, as they are simple on/off switches with the cables connected between the appliance and live cable, but it depends where you position the switches. If I were you, I wouldn't connect them to the actual ceiling light, unless you've got long arms.

What is the thread length of the 12mm switch? The specs say 12mm but it looks much longer in the pictures/video.

They really are that small. I'd say the actual thread length is around 8mm (can't measure them now as installed!) and I used them to add on/off switches to some wall lights which didn't have pulley switches. They are a bit fiddly, but if you can manage that, they are good for adding on/off switches in confined spaces

If it’s a 12 or 24v light max 5a, or you use a relay then yes, else no.
