Kit Cat Klock Gentlemen The Original (Classic Black)

The Kit Cat Clock has been an American classic for decades. It's funny, cute and maybe too tacky for some folks but a lot of people (like me) love it. I read a lot of other customers' reviews before buying this and I recommend that you read some of the high rated reviews if you are planning to buy it so you know the "tricks" to getting it to work. It is somewhat fragile and it takes care to open it without damaging it, removing the foam insert, installing the batteries and putting the back part on again. You need to get the top of the back (up by the ears) in first and gently snap the panel in. It is also a good idea to use a screw rather than a nail to mount it since the screw should be more stable and you can adjust the small distance between the clock back and the wall as necessary to keep the tail assembly moving. You will also need to adjust the vertical angle a bit to keep the tail motion going. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see that, with careful preparation and installation, the krazy thing really works. The wagging tail assembly isn't even powered by a motor but just uses magnetic repulsion to keep the tail pendulum moving but it has continued to work for months now without any adjustment. It also keeps good time - just remember to only move the minute hand to set the time or you will probably break it. It really looks like a smaller version of the old AC electric Kit Cat Clock that I remember my aunt and uncle had in their house decades ago and the box says it's made in the USA. Good stuff!

Love this clock. It’s a cute addition to my kitchen. Had some issues getting the animation to work and reached out the manufacturer, who were extremely helpful in troubleshooting. If you have the same problem try loosening the tiny philips head screw on the pendulum by a half turn. It’s tightened for shipping and can prevent the tail from moving. Once fixed, it began working beautifully and I’ve gotten several compliments from guests.

Gift for my mom who had one growing up. I bought her this one 18 years ago and it stopped swinging its tail about two years ago. This is the replacement. The price sure has gone up! She loves it.

Has been a week or so since I got it. Has been working just fine and keeping time great.I read some of the negative reviews and was worried but when you open the box there are a few steps for you to take to avoid the problems these people experienced. Take your time when opening the clock and you'll be fine.I really enjoy watching this operate.

I dropped and broke the first one when trying to mount it on the wall. It turns out there is a subtle locking mechanism on the back you need to understand -- I didn't. The thing exploded after a 3 foot drop. So, $60 for a second one. :(It's been keeping pretty good time since hanging it correctly a month ago. And, it's a joy to see and hear every time I go into our guest bathroom.

Was very pleasantly surprised to find my clock not only had heart eyes, but also upgraded to a Crimson Royale with red bowtie & tail...no extra cost. AWESOME! Works perfect - eyes move, tail wags, after I balanced it correctly.. LOVE IT!

I really like the look of the clock, and the time-keeping function works pretty well, but ultimately the pendulum effect just does not work. It seems like many other users have had the same issue. I’ve tried everything, like angling the clock slightly differently in many directions, other user’s custom fixes involving magnets, and more. No matter what, it only ever swings for a few minutes before petering out. It’s unbelievable that they didn’t come up with a system for the pendulum that actually works for most people, but it is what it is I guess. It still looks good on my wall at least.

The back is touchy, have to push just right w the right pressure. Seems alot smaller than I remember them but... MY BROTHER LOVED IT!! lol.. He named it puddikins..lol **BE Gentle when handling its a bit delicate..
