Great Kukri knife machete, well worth the money.
Wanted a Cold Steel kukri machete for awhile, after I already got the CS Magnum Kukri a few years ago, but wanted a shorter version. This one filled the bill: sharp, great handling, and cheap when I bought it for $17.84. I didn't hesitate, snapped it up. You shouldn't either, buy one!UPDATE: So, I have had this a few months, and wanted to give additional perspective. Great balance in the hand, extremely fast and agile. Much smoother to use than my original CS Magnum Kukri, not so heavy or fatiguing, and actually cut brush and foliage better in my hands. The guard against hand creep is a great safety feature, first started with the CS Royal Kukri machete. Overall, it is nice and sturdy, not too much flex at all. It chops it up with the best of them. I got this thing at an insane price on Amazon for less than $18, an absolute bargain! It comes sharp, but I am a sharpening *demon and hit it up again. Now, it is deadly sharp, so bring on those zombies!2nd UPDATE: I love this Kukri more and more, use it for home defense and it is deadly for that purpose. It is sharp as hell, and even after yard chores around the house, keeps its edge. I let my yard man use it to trim back bushes, and he didn't want to give it back, and then wanted to know where could get one. Just as I predicted, it would go up in price, it is now almost $30 plus shipping, while I got it for less than $18.00 plus free shipping. For those few complaining about the grip or edge, well it is your job to maintain it, so sharpen it and put grip tape, leather wrap, or ranger bands on it. It is a devastating chopper for bushing weed and saplings, and a superb home defense weapon, and again I just love mine.

A solid tool
I bought a house and the back yard was in bad shape. This tool made all the hard work a real pleasure. I live in Louisiana and I have a lot of bamboos near my back fence. Hacking bamboos with Cold Steel Kukri is one of the most fun things I have done. The shape of the blade is incredible in transmitting the force of the cut exactly where you want it, and using this tool efficiently just feels so natural. The first time I worked with it I kept destroying bamboos and their roots for over an hour and a half, my hands got blisters (the handle is great but the skin needs to harden in order to get used of this plastic) but I just kept going because it was just great fun cutting down things. As shown in the photo I covered the handle with leather straps, and I may also use a leather glove which is great if your work is mixed wood work with digging (uprooting bamboos etc). The inner most point of the curve of the blade works fantastic for shaping wood as shown in the photo. Minor dings on the blade from hitting small stones in the soil when hitting bamboos near their root. No impact whatsoever, not even in the sharpness of the blade by working long hours with hard wood. A solid tool that is a real pleasure to work with, and the price is just incredible. I am getting a second one soon.

Chopped down a tree with it easily, as fast as an axe
Holds up to abuse well. Chopped down a tree with it easily, as fast as an axe, faster than a large fixed blade. For the money is a great blade, but I do have a few minor complaints1. The blade has to grind to it. It's essentially flat the entire way up from the bevel. But the bevel is so gradual it works great for whatever you need from it, it's a machete thing.2. I'd recommend using gloves with it, the handle will be rough on your hands after periods of extensive chopping, I got blister the first time I used this knife for several hours. But it could easily be avoided with care3. It came rather dull, much more dull than I had expected, I sharpened it myself with a very basic sharpening system and it held that edge through a tree and moreIt's made in south Africa. Maybe the cold steel production group there doesn't quality control as well, or maybe cold steel just doesn't ship machetes as sharp as their folders, but it wasn't a big deal to me. This is probably the best kukri you could get for this price if you want to get some use and abuse out of it. If you somehow managed to break it, less than twenty bucks isn't anything to cry about, but from my heavy chopping and mild prying it hasn't ever given me reason to think it would fail when I needed it not to.Great product, would buy again.
