Great toy for a 2-3 yr old
I gave this to my 3 yr old grandson. I wish I had seen it earlier (at age 2). He loves it and it fits him fine but will out grow it too soon. It is easy for him to work the arms and it will really dig sand or loose dirt (not hard or packed dirt). He has played on it outside and also plays with it inside too. I would recommend.

My Grandson Loves IT!!!!!
It's not as easy to assemble. For my Grandson who is 2 and loves all big equipment this was his favorite Birthday Present. Grandma props here! Because he is 2 he won't be so rough with it and he can still grow into it. He did figure out how to use this pretty quick. If he was a little older I'd be worried on how long it will last but like I said this should last him longer because he is 2. He loves it and that is all that matters to me. He plays with it every chance he can get outside and do some digging.

Very nice, well built, a couple of design flaws
Got this for my son who just turned 3. He is about 40" tall (this info will be useful later). The unit is very well built and seems quite sturdy. One thing to note though is if you purchase this for use in North or South America, the warranty is only 180 days and not 3 years. My son has only been using it a couple of hours but overall he loves it. There is a learning curve to operate it properly (pushing with one hand while pulling with the other), but with time and practice I'm sure any kid could learn to use it well. This leads me to the design flaw(s). Either the operating arms are too long, or the seat needs to be farther back from the arm. I believe the seat should be farther back from the arm, since the added length of the levers helps to move the arm with relative ease. When my son sits on it, the levers are right in his stomach when the arm is up, so it is difficult for him to maneuver the levers and swing it around. An extra four inches would make a world of difference. Right now my son can't really sit on it and move it around - his legs are too short (and he has very long legs for his age). He will easily grow into it, but I'm hoping the position of the levers relative to the seat does not become a significant issue for him.Overall, I very much recommend this product especially compared with similar products on the market. It is well-built and sturdy and I believe it will stand up to years of use.

Great Toy!
Just bought this for my 2 year old for his birthday. He loves it! Hes still pretty small and his feet can't reach the floor to move around but he rests them on the grey part right between the wheels. I would recommend this for a large 2 year old or a very coordinated one. My little guy has his brother and sisters helping him scoot around. This toy will only get more use as he grows. The little black exhaust pipe will fall off but my kids had no problem poking it back in it almost adds another learning element to this toy. Great learning toy better than expected.

Love it!
I purchased this item as a Christmas present for my 28-month-old. He absolutely loves it! He has already mastered the two levers (one makes the arm go up and down, the other moves the "digger"). He makes piles of blocks or other toys so he can "dig" them up. Can't wait for spring so we can take it out to the sandbox! My other two children (ages 6 & 8) also love playing with it. It appears to be well made. The assembly instructions were a bit hard to decipher at first, but once I got going, it went together pretty quickly. Would definitely recommend this product.

Disappointing waste of money!
My husband and I put this together for 3 yr old grandson on Christmas Eve. As others had reported, it took longer than expected. We checked and double checked that all the screws were in the correct places, however, the screw on the boom arm seemed short but we did attach and cap it as directed. On Christmas Day, within 15 minutes of use, the screw and cap on the boom arm popped off and has not stayed. This detachable cap and screw pose a danger of choking to any small child so we had to leave it off. My grandson is extremely disappointed that he cannot operate the bucket and boom. It is also very difficult to turn and is tippsy if he tries to move it while seated. Disappointing that one bad screw essentially ruined the experience of the whole toy! A waste of money!

I had one as a kid!!!!! Now so does my nephew!!!!
Oh wow! This brings back some memories! I had a little red one of these diggers when I was a kid! I played with it till the wheels fell off! I have so many fond memories from my past! On a recent trip to my sisters house in California I ordered this and set it up with 2 amazed young soon to be operators! The set up was relatively simple and short. And within minutes had some very happy kids! They absolutely love it! It is built sturdy and should last a long time, a minor pinch point may snag a finger but other then that very safe!

Really cool, but a few design issues
My son LOVES construction equipment, so we got him this for his 3d birthday this past July and he loves it... once I made a few adjustments to it. My 2 complaints are #1, the latch for the arm, it always kept engaging while he was playing and it became frustrating to the point i removed it and #2, the weak plastic support bar that actuates the digging bucket. It bends at even the slightest load, so we had to work on teaching my son to pick up very light loads. We plan on replacing the arm with one milled out of aluminum, as that should address the issue. Overall, he likes it a lot, it just missed the mark of being a solid sandbox toy like his Tonka trucks from the 70's and 80's
