The Complete Sherlock Holmes Kindle Edition

I've read multiple editions of the Sherlock Holmes stories over the last years and I jumped at this less-than-a-$1 Kindle book in order to own an accesible electronic version.However, this was a very bad choice because of (among other things), the following:* There are TWELVE STORIES MISSING, which correspond to the final book of stories ("The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes". Such stories are: - The Adventure of the Ilustrious Client. - The Adventure of the Blanched Soldier. - The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone. - The Adventure of the Three Gables. - The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire. - The Adventure of the Three Garridebs. - The Problem of the Thor Bridge. - The Adventure of the Creeping Man. - The Adventure of the Lion's Mane. - The Adventure of the Veiled Lodger. - The Adventure of Shoscombe Old Place. - The Adventure of the Retired Colourman.* There's text missing in several stories (i.e. "Scandal in Bohemia").* This Kindle book does not include any of the Sidney Paget illustrations (despite the fact that the captions of the illustrations are included in the book).* Regarding the "Adventure of the Dancing Men", the lack of graphics in it makes the story unreadable. It's an essential, indispensable component for the story that was included by Conan Doyle ever since he wrote the story.There are plenty more faults about this Kindle book, but the above should suffice to persuade anyone to look elsewhere for a reliable and truly complete, "Complete Sherlock Holmes" edition

The sound level is not normalized across the multiple files making up this collection, and even varies widely within the same file at times. And the breakup of the files makes no sense at all; it would make a lot more sense to break the files at the end of a book or story, especially given that as erratic as they are broken, there is nothing remotely resembling uniformity of size, either.

I liked the stories but they were very different from the dramatized versions on TV. What I did not like was the lack of editing. The stories were full of wrong words, not so much misspelled as words with the same number of letters as the original but scrambled to spell a totally incorrect word. It is as if the typist scrambled a word and the "spellcheck" program made its best guess as to the word spelling.

I enjoy the classics. This has made a great addition to my library. I definitely recommend it.

I watched television versions of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes adventures with my mother in the 1980s, so getting around to reading the stories in the 1990s in San Francisco was a special treat. I really wanted to have the complete collection on my new e-reader and Amazon made that happen by having this e-book available. Look for "The Speckled Band" and other classic detection tales.

Alright, that was good. Start to finish, excellent investigation novel with equal parts intrigue, mystery, and suspense. Perhaps not as dramatic in some situations as a thriller novel, but I will say that I completely understand how the character of Sherlock Holmes so impressed the public that his legacy survives to this day. This one is well worth the read.

Another one to clear the boards. Whats new to say about Sherlock Holmes? I had this book in hard cover for years but gave it away before one of my many moves. It is locked in now with digital. I read it on those occasions when Im not in the mood for other books on my shelf.

The depth, breath and heart of a detective told with magnificent imagination. His writing style is easy to follow over complex terrain and should be a joy to read for all.

I enjoyed reading the "long stories" of Sherlock Holmes on kindle after reading all the short stories many years ago. As a detective, Holmes remains incomparable.
