Great for newbies
It’s great for acrylic, but if you’re using oil I’d say a glass sheet would work best

Nice palette but not all solid Wood!
The center of the palette is wood particle board/Masonite. The outside of the palette is very thin veneer of a wood. This palette is not a solid veneered piece of wood!

Holds paint
I’ve used cardboard the last few months as my pallette and when this arrived, I threw all my cardboard away. Well done!

Love this palette
Great palette. Easy to care for if you clean it regularly. I like to clean mine with a citrus solvent. I paint with oils.

If you plan on holding it you will want to sand the thumbhole.
The thumbhole needs to be shaved down on both sides in order to hold it comfortably. The distance between the thumbhole and the cutout where you hold your brushes is too large. If you hold a rag and wipe your brushes like I do or switch between brushes in your hand it’s almost impossible and my hands are large (needs to be sanded). It’s a great size if you store your paints in a freezer. It squeezes into the largest Tupperware size from the dollar store.

This is for a child or a beginner
Oh no! I never even opened up the package. When I seen the size of it through the envelope, I knew I was returning. I probably should’ve looked at the size before I ordered it. I never thought i would get something so tiny.

I was going to buy a few of these, glad I didn't.Firstly, too small to be practical. I accept that to be my own fault for not reading properly, but that must be a very small hand holding this in the picture.The one I received was very rough, totally unusable for painting. It felt like it had jad no pre treatment at all and was extremely thirsty. After sanding, its going to take a lot of oil to prepare this.Ok, so it was inexpensive. But it's really false economy, lesson learned.

Sturdy and compact
This is a good sized simple wooden palate for oils and or other paints. With oils on a wooden palate, it is better to treat the palate yourself first with natural oils and this will make it easier to clean..I have found the relevant information on Google and I use linseed oil.
