Excellent written travel guide
I just returned from a 10 day trip to Yellowstone National Park and found this travel guide extremely useful and one of the more well-written guides I have used. The practical information on touring the park is succinct and easy to follow, and highlights all of the main areas you will want to visit along with some hidden gems about the park. The information was very accurate and you could tell the author knew exactly what he was talking about. There are also multiple very interesting side-bars on different aspects of the park that I found engaging and added intrigue to places I was visiting. I would highly recommend reading this book prior to your trip to Yellowstone and bringing it along on your journey.

HANDY travel guide to have while visiting Yellowstone & Grant Teton Nat'l Parks
Just returned from a 5-day vacation trip to Montana where my wife and I spent 2 days in Yellowstone and 1 day in the Grant Tetons. This handy guide was extremely helpful, and I referred to it each night before our day trips and frequently while we were in the parks to find the best scenic spots, best hiking trails, and places to eat/shop. Having a printed guide like this is indispensable when you are in areas of the park with no cell phone service. The ONLY COMPLAINT I have about this travel guide is that the font is EXTREMELY SMALL, which makes it difficult to read, especially after a long day of travel when my eyes are getting tired. Similarly, some pages have added info printed in yellow-ish ink, which is even harder to read than the black ink. Ugh.I highly recommend this practical travel guide to anyone looking to make the most of their upcoming visit to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Nat'l Parks.

Excellent tool for trip planning
I was planning on a Yellowstone trip in September, so I bought this book as a guide. I am one of those that buys such books so I have a complete understanding of where I am going as a newbie. I found the book quite valuable in trip planning. I thought I'd see Yellowstone in a weekend, but now I know I need more more time. My plans changed completely after reading this book. Now, I am going in winter, crowd-free, and I know exactly what I want to accomplish during my time there. My trip will be in December and any review at that point would be about the park rather than the book, but this book gave me a lot of focus I would not otherwise have had. There is nothing more to lose other than the price of the book.

Great for Yellowstone, less so for Grand Tetons
The guidebook was really great for the Yellowstone aspect of the trip as well as the border towns. It had good details of each section, including food, hikes, and drives. There were also a ton of beautiful pictures. However, the book was relatively weak on the Grand Tetons, particularly related to the best hikes out there. All in all, if you are going to Yellowstone I would highly suggest this book. If you are going to the Grand Tetons, I would pass.

Best Overall Book
I found the content and photos the best out of several Yellowstone books for planning my route/features each day for Yellowstone.

Helpful, Easy to Read, and Attractive Lay Out
Gave this as a gift to friends traveling to Yellowstone. We gave it with confidence since our previous Fodor's Travel Guides have been awesome. They are easy to read, have helpful local tips, and are filled with wonderful pictures. Our friends said they enjoyed both the book and their trip. Interestingly, they said they enjoyed the book almost more on their return as it helped them relive their favorite parts. There are more thorough guidebooks out there - but we've come to trust the Fodor series when we just want to grab a quick title that will help add history and some guidance to our trips.

Perfect guide for Yellowstone
This is a great book and was very useful for our Yellowstone trip in September. It is easy to read while highly informative. It has a list of must see areas in the front and paints a great picture of what to see when and how to get there. This is my go to book for Yellowstone.

A brilliant comprehensive guide to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton
The best guide book I could find, having spent a lot of time reading reviews and looking through previews. This is a brilliant comprehensive guide to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton full of back ground information, maps, history, recommended hikes, must see highlights and places to stay. Very well written with a modern approach. Lots of great colour photographs that will certainly inspire you. We used this guide to help with planning and during the holiday, it now makes a great coffee table addition you can just keep going back for a read.

Excellent impressions of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.
We visited this region in the summer of 2012 and wished we'd bought this book ahead of our visit. It brought back so many wonderful memories of our trip.
