Lose connectivity. Lose wireless charging. Gain difficult to use dock.
First off, i'm the idiot here. I should have known this wouldn't work. You have a dock where you need to slide the phone down onto the connector to charge/sync. And you have a magnetic base/backing. So as you come near the dock... WHACK it snaps the phone to the base. Then you have to try to slide the phone down onto the connector. GOOD LUCK, CHUCK! So as you slide it down and the mount slides down, and things start to bend and crackle, you realize.... oh shoot, the connector doesn't line up with the port on the phone. So you finally finagle that sucker on there and nadda. It doesn't work! So then you try to remove it. Well that takes an act of Congress!! You can't "Just remove your phone". oh no no no. You have to do some magic finger dance where you pry the phone up off of the connector and then use a chisel to drive it off of the base before it will relinquish your mobile device. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!!So then you go home and drop the phone on your wireless charger. You wake up to a dead phone. Why? Because with the metal backing plate inside your case, it blocks the wireless charging functionality. Won't work. Can't work. That's fine... The magnet was the root of all your problems with the dock in the first place, so just take the metal plate back off, and use the dock without the magnets. IT WORKS!!! Sort of.... Now we realize that the cable that comes with the dock is no good and has very sketchy connection on the phone end. You try several other cables, all work fine. You try the cable with the dock... Nope. No android auto for you Mr.!Bottom line, Move away from this. It's no good. If you do nothing else in your life, trust me on this one.

and held my new essential phone like a champ
In my car, anything goes as far as car holders for phones. However, in my wife's car, when I have to drive it around, nothing works, and I've tried about 15 different holders, the CD player holder was my last option, and it kept falling out... but lets not get into irritations of the past. This phone holder/charger staid on in an area I wasn't able to reach before due to its design, and held my new essential phone like a champ. I am exceedingly impressed by how well this is made as well. I was half expecting another easy to break, easy to pop-off suction cup and joints. But it firmly holds without complication. The only problem I had with this, was taking it out of the box. I'm not going to dock a star for that though. They just need to make it so the wires are wrapped in a figure 8 instead of a big large loop, so that you can pull it out of the cardboard slot easier, without having to unwind the whole cord. Thanks Ibolt my sincerest appreciation for making something that finally works in my wife's Nissan Juke.

Great idea to use your Vehicle’s CarPlay features
Great design for my usage in my off-road vehicle. Holds my iPhone securely in place even on rough terrain. I also can use my smartphone’s video or camera modes when mounted just above the front dashboard. I routed the USB wire in between and behind the dashboard. I also added & install a USB port in parallel with the existing vehicles CarPlay connection. I prefer the CarPlay (hardwired power connection) feature with more functions available and reliability than using the Bluetooth connectivity on my Jeep and now that the wire is stealth it’s a prefect fit.

Caused the entire display to go dark
Something in this technology which seems otherwise simple is flawed. Mounted it in my wife's car and connected it to the USB. When she got off work, she noticed the mount had dropped to the floor. Ok, she remounted it to the dash and a few minutes after she inserted her iPhone XR, the entire display went dark. She stopped the car then restarted it. The display lit up again. I don't know if any permanent damage is present but this mount is not the solution to car play / wireless charging I hoped for.

Stopped connecting to phone after one week.
ALMOST everything about this cradle is tops - the magnet is great and just the right magnetism, the form design is awesome, I really like the ease of use when I got in and out of my car, my phone just slid right into place and the cradle did it's job of connecting to my car head unit and charging in the process. Sadly, the cable that comes with it just stopped connecting and charging. I tested it on several devices and A/C adapters. So that a pretty big negative. If you are going to charge $50 for your product, invest in a good cable to use with it, or make it so that a user can use their own cable somehow. So close!!

EXCELLENT!!!
I have Apple CarPlay and I love it but unfortunately it’s not the wireless version so I did need to go with something that had a cable and could actually connect to the lightning port on my phone. I was so overjoyed to find such a great device with such a long cable that I could run through the dash and conceal. One that also had a very strong base and that was magnetic to stick to the back of my phone and that has great support. While I would prefer wireless CarPlay, I’m super overjoyed that I found this!

Great for Apple CarPlay connection
I purchased this car mounts so that I would be able to connect to Apple CarPlay since a lot of car manufacturers that offer Apple CarPlay as a feature require your phone to be plugged in to use it. this charger works perfect for making that connection without fumbling with wires because the wire is built into the charger

Looks and works great!
I installed this as a quick connection for CarPlay instead of having to grab my charger cord everytime and it works flawlessly. It fits my iPhone 7 and its Otterbox commuter case no problem. I was concerned with it's size at first, but its smaller than in the pictures. Theres a little adhesive on the suction cup to help keep it in place; mine hasnt came unstuck since i purchased several months ago.

At last - THE phone mount for the car I've been waiting for...
I've gone through several iterations of mounts to hold my iPhone to the car, usually all using the concept of suction on the windscreen, often with spring-loaded arms which grip the side of the phone. All have failed pretty quickly, and nearly all have rattled from the moving parts after a surprisingly short period of time. This one, however, is different. Sure it still mounts to the windscreen in the usual manner (though it has almost a glue-like gel on the rubber which makes it easier for the sucker to make an air-tight seal). But what makes it really easy to use is the fact that there are no side clamps to hold the phone in place. Instead, you use magnets. Technically, you could stick the supplied metal plates onto the rear of your iPhone if you wanted (and I don't!), but for me I just placed these plates in-between the phone and the case that I store the phone in. Then, in pretty much a single-handed action, you can place the phone into this cradle with absolute ease, and it just stays put.But better still, with an integrated Lightning connector built into the base, when you position the phone onto the cradle, it also charges your phone up (provided the lightning/USB cable is plugged in to a suitable power supply/connector!). I have mine wired directly into the back of an after-market audio head unit in the car, which supports CarPlay. And now we're really talking. A simple job of just placing the phone onto the cradle, and suddenly all the cool features of CarPlay are available to you with no hassle whatsoever. If I had to be critical of this product, I'd say that in order to position the metal plates on my iPhone 8+ phone, you end up losing some of the magnet attraction with the cradle. So after a while, the phone might perhaps start to tilt sideways. It's minimal, but it's not perfect. If I arranged the plates so this didn't happen, then I couldn't wirelessly charge my phone with it's cover on at night - and that's not something I'm prepared to sacrifice. It's possible that a smaller (and older) iPhone might not suffer from this limitation, but I can't comment on that.So this is a great product, and certainly the best I've used before in the car. However, it's not entirely faultless. If only the magnets were a little bit stronger, then perhaps we'd be giving this a full 5-star rating. But as it is, it has to drop a single star.(By the way, my advice to stop this slight tilting after a whilst whilst docked and driving, would be to make sure you position the unit so the phone can rest against the wide window/window frame should it start to tilt).

Absolutely Brilliant
Absolutely Brilliant, installed mine on the bottom of my cup holder. Plenty of adjustment. The suction cup is tacky for extra adhesion. I have a thick phone case and it fits fine. Its now much quicker to plug my phone in before I set off. Expensive but there’s nothing else quite like it.

poor construction
due to the construction of the device it forces the phone to sit at an angle when magnetised, and casues the phone to repeatedly disconnet when driving over anything other than a smooth roadwaste of money

Must have...
If you have CarPlay in your car, this is a must have. I have tried a bunch before, but this is far the best one; I like that this dock can be pretty much installed anywhere, even on rugged surfaces, and is sturdy. If installed on dash during hot days, recheck it before leaving the first time, as heat will expand the cold air trapped when previously installed, and might weaken the suction, but once done (first hot day), it seems to hold tight.

Schwach
