Both a defective and a poorly designed product
Purchased Oct 4, 2011 and this is my review of Nov 16. The clear plastic face cover was loose and able to move right out of the box. The instructions were very poorly worded and inadequate. It seems to not reliably maintain time. The buttons are very small, and pressing only one button puts you in the time change mode. It has cleared scores to zero on it's own twice, the second time yesterday in the middle of a golf round. The Amazon website does not seem to allow customer service contact or a cost effective recourse for handling defects of this nature on a relatively low cost item.

Does the job!
This score counter does the job by keeping score and keeping total shots throughout the day. One issue I did have with it is that the plastic cover over the screen is very loose to the point it slides around. It started drizzling one day on the course and water started getting inside and fogging up. I had to actually put the counter away and go back to paper. But, it still works perfectly fine and it still gets 4 stars because it still get the job done and that what I purchased it for. Considering how much I paid for it, If it lasts 6 months or more Ill be happy.

Okay device, directions are bad
Bought this item as a simple stroke counter and it seems to do fine in that regard. It keeps track of up to 4 players and displays a running total of each score as well as the stroke count for the present hole. In that regard it does a great job.The device has four buttons, stroke, player, up and down. (And a reset button in a very small hole on the back) The stroke button is also the "on" button, to reset the scores you press and hold the "up" and "down" buttons together. There is no "off" button, you just let the device time out at the end of a round. The battery lasts about 20 to 25 rounds and requires a phillips screw driver to change. The device has a display showing 18 holes and the score for each, when you start a round there are zeros displayed for all of the holes, the zeros are easy to see but the hole numbers are pretty microscopic for my eyes. The device has one digit for each hole's score so the max for any hole is 9 strokes. In the description it says it also tells time, has an alarm and tells the temperature. Good luck in trying to use those features, as I said, the directions stink. If you need a good score counter this does a decent job.

Good features but not reliable
I like the features of the score counter, but it's complicated to use. Don't lose your instruction manual because you will need it.I only used it twice on the course and it's broken already! Very disappointed at the quality of the product. The screen is blank and it keeps beeping until the battery is removed. Even the reset button cannot stop the beeping.

Mostly good
The screen and print on the screen is a bit smaller than I would like. I have no problem reading it, but as I got it as a gift for my Grandfather, he has a bit more difficultly reading it. On the flip side, it's very small and portable so it will not be a pain on the golf course, you can just clip it on your bag or belt loop. It's light and easy enough to work. It comes with simple, plain English directions and stores up to 4 different players scores, which is perfect for going golfing with the boys, or playing a captain and crew tournament.

Don't waste your money
My son has been playing golf for a couple of years and likes electronic gadgets, so I thought this would be a great idea for him. However, I am very disappointed. I bought it for him for Christmas and it came with no instructions. I found an 800 number online and the company emailed be a pdf with the instructions. While my son what playing around with it, he said it's kind of complicated be he would give it a try and clipped it to his golf bag. We went golfing for the first time this year in June and the battery was dead. I bought him the simple plastic one for $5 and that's what he uses to keep track of how many shots he takes for each hole. Don't waste your money. Get a simple plastic mechanical one and you'll be better off.

Tabs are small
The taps or buttons on this scorer are too small for my fingers. I must use a finger nail to push the flush buttons down. Buttons needs to be higher. Scorer works great and I am using it.
