COLOR night vision - so crazy.
After using this camera for a few days, I have to say, there is nothing I've seen that's anything like it. I got this to basically see/record what's going on in the woods and trails where I hike a lot at night. I always hear the animals but never see them. Now the porcupines can't hide! I was planning on recording my kid mountainbiking the other night but it already dumped snow here so that's going to have to wait a few days. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what some of the mountain bike video guys do with these things since their existing cameras don't work at night. This takes amazing video you just can't get with anything else that I've come across. Where a gopro is useless, this thing records like it's daylight - even in color. It's crazy. It also has twilight mode which I've only touched on as that lasts like 10 minutes in New England this time of year. I'm sure in the summer it will be cool to try that mode a bit more. When I first got it I was a little disappointed with the image quality but after reading the manual and playing with it a bit I'm much more happy. It's not like a 'normal' camera as there are minor/quick things you have to do to adjust for the available light. I suppose it's like adjusting for focus and flash but called 'gain'. I'm not a photographer if you can't tell.... You just have to realize that there are a few concepts that aren't the same as in daylight photography/video.I was a little concerned about the battery but then saw you can get some cheap ones on amazon so I'm going to pick a few up. They are NP-50s. I got a 32gb card at Walmart to use with it. The eyepiece just pops out and card goes right in, takes about a second.Installed the app from the play store (Samsung S7) and it seemed pretty good. App seems to have a lot of features I haven't explored yet. The 'Live View' seems like it might be fun to check out a bit more.Ended up writing more than I planned... anyway, remember this: it's COLOR nightvison. There's nothing like it. The image quailty is way beyond what I was expecting and it's even in video!

Not bad
We had a good time with this camera. It does take good pictures and video in low light situations but not in total darkness. I would have rated it higher if it had the ability to shoot in HD, (I bought it knowing it did not).I am excited to become more familiar with it.

An absolute must have for night vision capabilities!
Well worth every penny! I have a PVS-14 gen 3P and I have to say that this is as close as you can get to it for the price. Not only does it see in the dark, you can record with 3 different color modes, compass, gps, remote camera view through the Sionyx Aurora app ( direct WiFi connection with the camera to your smart phone). Camera also has gain, brightness, and zoom function. Has many other capabilities a PVS-14 does not. It will work with a PVS-14 J-arm and PVS-14 weapon mount. Also will work with IR lasers, lights, & illuminators. Camera can invert the image when running on a helmet mount. I am very, very pleased with this product.

Nice low light camera
This is a low light camera/video recorder - it enhances available light - it will not perform in complete darkness, so no light, no image. In very low light, where the average camera would show total darkness, it records about the same level of detail as your own darkness-adjusted eyesight. In low to moderately low light it will brighten up the scene considerably and looks somewhat like a colourized (some light sources look green or bluish) full moonlight to almost daylight scene. Good all round camera if you want to film in daylight, twilight or moonlight. Lower the light the more grainy the image becomes.Pros: Small, compact, lightweight. Easy to use, tripod mountable, works whilst USB charging, easy file transfer via USB, doesn't require an IR light source, apparently waterproof, has GPS and timestamping.Cons: No lenscap, battery is hard to reach and I don't see spares being easy to find online, memory is limited to 32GB and uses micro SD cards that are again hard to reach (you need to remove the eyepiece). medium resolution 720p, no optical zoom (there is digital zoom), no auto-focus, no external mic (video picks up a lot of camera operation noise). This is the first model that company put out apparently, so I'd expect a improved version will come out eventually. It is also expensive for a 720p camera, but you are paying for the longer shooting hours. In general I'm happy with it.

Better than any other low light level camera out there
This camera has higher resolution and lower noise than most other low light level cameras available at its price point. Thermal cameras (FLIR or Seek Thermal brands), which also provide imagery when there is low or no visible light, have much lower resolution and deliver thermal images, not recognizable visible color images, like Aurora. Aurora's imagery can be viewed directly through the viewfinder, or via your smart phone which is connected with Bluetooth. In both cases, the video can be stored digitally on the SD card (which you need to provide). I like the smartphone connection, because it allows more than one person to view the video image at the same time. I have not yet tried the time lapse photo capability, which would likely be good for viewing nocturnal wildlife. Manual focus of both the objective and the eyepiece are provided with focus rings. The battery (included) is a standard camera type and can be recharged with a USB cable (included) input to the camera. This is a great product for those who want to see what is happening at night or when the visible light level is very low.
