Philippa Gregory's The Real White Queen and Her Rivals [BBC] [Import]

What a wonderful,inciteful and interesting dvd.I love this period in our history and Phillipa Gregory is the mistress of this era.She weaves the stories of these three women together and paints a picture of their lives that makes you realise just how lucky,as women we are to live now,our choices are vast by comparison.I think my heroine is Margaret Beaufort,what a woman,wonderful,strong,wise she knew when to hold her tongue and when to go for glory.She loved her son so much how lucky he was to have a mother like her,and she was only 13!!.Can watch it again and again,if you don't know who these long dead ladies are you should watch this and learn.

Phiippa Gregory offers a real insight into the three women at the centre of her famous books. Thoroughly enjoyed it and coyld watch over and over. Highly recommended

Well, Phillipa Gregory, surely this is not what actually happened?I will never believe MEN who go into BLOODY battle are so easily influenced & manipulated by scheming women, witches, or whatever they are by these women.That is, in the 15the-century OR even today women had or have so much power over A man. I do believe this is all very good viewing for us to see women who are conniving and planning in the background to be more ruthless than a man but sorry I do not buy it.I thought the author was a historian but she has taken what we think we know and twisted it.There is no evidence that King Richard 111 loved his wife Anne, or that she had the influence over him that she appears to have in this series.If women were so influential there would be more in parliament today than we have. We do not even earn the same money for the same positions?!!!Look well done as far as acting, costumes, script etc. They do say it is not factual so that is why I far prefer to see a docu-drama rather than this type of program.Having said all of that this program has shed more light on the women behind the scenes and the War of the Roses.Richard 111 does not have the physical issues in this program that he had in true life. I admit I would have enjoyed a more accurate version of history if that is possible. Perhaps that is impossible as it was far too long ago.Although there is a possibility Richard 111 did not kill his nephews, others may have, those who had something more to gain but really 500 years later I suppose it no longer matters. No one will ever know for sure.

Made sense [finally] of the Wars of the Roses

Hello, my wife and I have been reading Philippa Gregorys books, and have bought and or watched movies and TV series, based off of her books. We have not been able to watch this DVD, for the reason that we searched for this movie for some time, and found it, and in our hasty decision making we didn't read that the DVD would not play in our player because of the region code. We live in the United States, so we can't watch it. Lesson learned. Always read full discription. Stay safe

The DVD is region 2, not region one.
