Great design and product
These little Cam locks are brilliant. They're perfect for parachord. I bought a couple for camping and liked them so much I bought about 6 more. I use them to tie down the poles of the tarp over the kitchen area. Having the cam makes it very easy to adjust the tension on the poles, which adjusts the tension on the tarp. I like that they're all metal and no plastic parts because this makes them very sturdy. Plus they'll last a long time.I also use a set for setting up cross lines between trees, either for setting up a clothes line for items to dry or to act at the peak of the tarp. The cam makes it very easy to tighten, where in the past I would have tied a knot, making it hard to get tight and even harder to un-do. We've all put up drying lines, loaded them with wet towels, only to see them sag too much causing items to slide to the middle and force you to re-tighten the line. This makes it so easy. These are overkill for support lines on tents. You could use them, but I think the smaller plastic versions might be just as good unless you were planning to be in really heavy wind.Be aware, there are limitations on the diameter of rope you can use with these. I believe it's 2MM to 6MM. So many standard ropes won't work well. As I mentioned earlier, Parachord works perfectly. Also be aware they make many tiers of parachord. The standard stuff you see in Home Depot might only have a strength of 60 - 160lbs, where you can buy parachord online that goes up to 700lbs....yet has the same diameter. It might be the difference between spending $3 for 100ft vs $9 for 100ft....so for $6 more why not get something much stronger.I haven't tried using these to tie down items on the roof rack (i.e. ladder or our sea kayaks) but I might give it a try. If I have an epic fail, I'll be sure to update my review. As with any cam or strap you put outside your car to hold gear down, make sure you tie a backup knot on the tag end, securing the tag to the primary rope. It's just in case a cam slips. I do this today with my Thule straps. In 15 years of having items like kayaks on my car roof rack, I've had them slip twice. Usually due to getting wet and the cam not fully gripping the strap. The simple knot saved everything. So please have a back-up knot for this as well.

These things are awesome!
Wow! I love these things! Yeah, they’re kind of spendy, but they’re slick. They work so well, and they’re so easy. I had read quite a few reviews, which were positive. But not for the same brand in the plastic version. I’m using these to hold and tighten sunshade sails that cover our courtyard. I had concerns about the plastic version, so I just spent the money and bought these aluminum ones. I’m glad I did. They are so cool. So much so, that I’m sort of hoping I have a need for more of these somewhere else, just because they are so damn fun, simple, and easy to use. They just work. I really like it when a product just works. It seems so rare anymore, so it was a pleasure to utilize these. They’ve been up for about six weeks. We live in a high wind area, and they showed no signs of wear. What a great product!

Perfect for Hanging String Lights
These are a must have for tie downs. I bought two of these to use for tensioning rope that I just hung outdoor string lights in the pool area. Tension can be relaxed to lower the line to a height that can be reached ground level and once installed, lights can be pulled up to a higher taught level. The rope tensioner most importantly gives the lights the support needed to ensure lost-lasting durability.

Nice for what I use it for
I bought this to use as an adjustable tie down in the back of my truck and it works perfect for that. it is easy to use and well made. With that being said, this is not a heavy duty item and I would not use it for heavy securing. If you need an adjustable carabiner this is a great little product.

Not the same as last one I bought. They actually found an improvement.
These things work pretty well. I don't remember when I last bought one, maybe 3 years ago, but they actually made an improvement. Now there is a small nub on the side of the cam that stops the cam from jamming tight when in the fully closed position without rope. I have had that happen to me and it is hard to open by hand. Otherwise my only complaint is that they don't make a stainless steel version. I use it on a sailboat topping lift and the salt air is pretty tough on the aluminum. The coating has held up reasonably well considering. The one I have is at least 3 years old and still works okay but I have to remember to lubricate it occasionally. Otherwise no complaints.

perfect for hammocking
Used this to set up a structural ridgeline for hammocking. Easy to tweak the tightness of the cordage. Great hold by the biner. Will buy more!

Amazing for quick tie-down in truck beds
I own two of these now, and they are an absolute must for pickup owners. I use these to very quickly pull something tie the front or back of my truck bed. I wouldn't use them to hold down lumber or anything of that size but great for holding a push lawn mower or a cooler. Pro-tip by paracord that has some elasticity to it.

Worth buying
Finally got to use these during my last camping trip. Came in handy when pitching a line or using them with tent/tarp poles. Metal versions are definitely heavy duty and i’d recommend these versus the plastic versions. The “teeth” took hold of my parachord with easy and even in windy conditions it never failed or lossened it’s grip. Even when i pitched a clothes line for towels and wet clothes these never lossened. Even if it did, the tightening process works perfectly, it’s the main reason i bought these. Need to buy more as it has so many useful applications
