Cooperative little models for an artist
Adorable little guys! I didn't buy these for a child, but for ME. I'm an artist, and wanted some little models for "still life" drawing. I can set one of these up, any angle, lit with a bright light for dramatic effects, and draw to my hearts content. Try asking a REAL elephant or polar bear to "pose".Anyway, for the money, these are not bad at all. For general shape, shadows, etc, they work fine. I can get exact details from other reference material, if needed. The little models I would really like were too expensive... the Toy Figures by Schleich, like this little polar bear. Schleich Walking Polar Bear Cub Toy FigureBut I don't have that kind of money. These TOOB collections are a fantastic bargain, and not goofy looking. Fairly realistic, nice hard plastic with just the tiniest bit of give to it, fairly good paint job, nice amount of detail indicating hair, fur, facial features, etc. I plan to get more as soon as I sell a painting or two. :-)

Fun and Adorable
I bought these for my son's stocking for Christmas. I bought his sister the complimentary Dino Toob. They fit perfectly in their stockings. My daughter carries around her dinos everywhere, and I see the zoo babies playing all over the house. I believe the paint detailing on the figures is colorful and interesting. Honestly, I like playing with them too. These are definitely better than any I've seen locally. It's easier to keep track of the zoo babies than it to keep track of those silly squinkies. I prefer these 'Safari Ltd' mini toys over squinkies any day. The only complaint I have is that I believe, for the money, there should be more in the Toob.

Very cute, great details
I bought these little guys for a craft project: cut them in half, spray paint and glue magnets on the back of each half -- they make great fridge magnets! That should give you an idea of their size. It was perfect to hold cards or other notes on my fridge. The best part are each animal's details - they're awesome. Since I spray painted each animal, the colors were lost, but the texture/details were still there (ex. you could still see the zebra's stripes, elephant's wrinkles and the fur on the cats and polar bear). I wish there were a little less pricey, but I caught then on sale so I'm happy enough. Oddly enough, all of the other Safari Ltd animals were able to be fulfilled by Amazon (read: free shipping) except for this one.

Reasonably priced animal figures for toddler play
My daughter loves playing with animal figures! We recently visited "Disney's Animal Kingdom" and she was super interested in the safari animals (up until then she had mostly been into farm animals). I checked out the "Schleich" sets, but they were above the price range I was looking for. After looking at some blogs I found a mother that used these (TOOB) animal sets to play matching games with them and animal picture cards. I thought this to be such an engaging activity for my toddler. The price of the 11 animal figures was the price of just ONE Schleich animal figure! DONE DEAL! They are obviously not as realistic as Schleich, but they are still very nice. My daughter loves playing with them!! It's been a hit over here!

surprisingly high quality details for the cost
I wanted my toddler to have some nice, realistic animal figures, and looked at the Learning Resources Jumbo Animals sets and Schleich figures, but those are larger and come at a much higher cost per figure, so I thought I would buy a couple Safari Ltd TOOBs and see what I thought. If I weren't happy with the quality, I would buy Learning Resources and Schleich figures in the future. But no need! I love these. There are a few small painting flaws on a couple of the figures, but for the price, I am MORE than happy; I am thrilled! I will definitely buy many more sets as my daughter develops more specific interests (anything from primates to insects to undersea life to animals from specific continents/climates to dinosaurs... and so forth). Also, not only do I enjoy them, but more importantly, my daughter enjoys them! I only took out a few at once, but she immediately examined them, brought them up to me (as if to ask what they were), and carried them around with her looking at them. I will say she is much younger than the target age... She is 21 months, and they very clearly say for ages 3+, but for me this is a case of knowing my child... She has never been much of a teether/mouther/chewer, never really put things in her mouth she shouldn't, so at 21 months, I am not worried about her playing with them. I would not leave her alone with them in the backseat of the car, just to be on the safe side, but as long as I am in the same room, I am just fine with her playing with them.

Love it
Bought this to fill an Advent calendar, my preschooler loved it! Great quality, variety and nice size animals. Would buy another set!

Ok for the price
This is a slightly odd assortment of "baby" animals one would find at a zoo- hippo, rhino, monkey, elephant, tiger, leopard, zebra, panda to name a few. The coloring from some of the darker colored animals seems to have transferred to the lighter colored ones. The sizes are all about 1.5" height and 2" long, so it is kind of strange to see an elephant that is the same size as a cheetah. Don't think my nephew will really care, though! They are cute for the price.
