Best cat fountain we've found so far
We have three quite elderly cats. One of them would never drink from a water bowl until he could use a paw to get the water to jiggle around, always making a mess on the floor. We started looking for fountains and bought two different ones, from other manufacturers, for two areas in the house. We really liked the first one (a "Cat-Mate) which was the cheaper of the two, but the power adapter gave up the ghost after a couple months, and for a few dollars more we could buy a whole new fountain. The other one (a PetMate at about $50) was awful from the get-go on a couple issues. It's silly complicated and difficult to put together, barely produced a tiny stream of water, but had a large reservoir and was extremely quiet. Cleaning it was a whole other proposition. It's unnecessarily complicated construction made it just as difficult to clean as to assemble the first time, and re-assembly after cleaning was a messy watery challenge. We retired it in short order. The Veken has proved to be the best yet. It's super easy to assemble which also makes it easy to clean. It has a capable filter which seems to keep the whole unit cleaner longer. It holds quite a bit of water, but that's its only drawback: it's impossible to tell how much water is in it when it's assembled and running. It get's noticeably noisier when water starts to run low, but by then the pump is probably pushing a lot of air around which probably isn't great for the pump longevity. We've started adding a small-ish amount of water every day as the three cats seem to drink a lot from this fountain. They seem to like it best without the flower-spout attachment, preferring just the little bit of bubbling water at the center. If Veken is paying attention, they could make this fountain even better by putting a clear plastic window on one side of the unit to make it easy to check the water level. Other than that, it's great! We now have two of them.

Four years and going strong!
Being descendants of desert animals, most domestic cats don't drink enough and they are thus prone to kidney and other serious health issues. This is why we have always had a fountain of some sort for our 4 legged family members since the recirculating water encourages adequate hydration. Our current choice is the VEKEN 84oz model with which we could not be more pleased.Originally purchased in November 2019, it has been in continuous use for over 4 years without a problem or concern of any sort. It still looks and operates like it did the day we got it. Is whisper quiet except for a light gurgling/tinkling sound as the water level goes down. Fill it up and the sound disappears. Our cat Charlie likes to drink standing up which causes quite the splashing so we got a good-sized rubber mat to go under his food and water (see photo). I would recommend this regardless as it likely quells any pump motor noise or vibration on a hard surface floor. You will want to keep the fountain clean. We wash ours about once per week. Disassemble and put it in the dishwasher is all it takes. The pump comes partially apart and we send those parts through the dishwasher as well (careful not to lose anything - they are small parts). Rinse the motor and filter thoroughly with tap water and a little toothbrush, reassemble and you should be good for another week. Sounds more time consuming and trouble than it actually is in practice. We do keep some q-tips around to deep clean the pump from time to time as it has some nooks and crannies that will collect sludge. Once every so often, we will place the pump in a cup of warm water, add a few drops of household bleach, and let it soak while the dishwasher does its thing on the other parts. This will sanitize the areas of the pump you just can't clean thoroughly. As far as replacing the filter, we put in a new one about once per month. It helps to regularly clean the fountain to get maximum filter life. As I recall, when the fountain was first purchased it came with 2 or 3 extra filters and we purchased a full box of replacements at the same time. They are not expensive and readily available on Amazon. One word of caution about this fountain - unlike some it does not have a reservoir. All the pumped water flows back into the body of the fountain which is not accessible to your pet. What this means is if the power goes out (or the pump should fail) and the water stops recirculating, there is nothing for your pet to drink. So, if you are going to use your fountain during periods your pet(s) may be home alone for long periods of a day or more, best practice would be to leave a bowl of water out for them just in case.Typically I would not come back after 4 years to leave a review but this product deserves it. Very happy with the Veken fountain and would purchase another without reservation or concern.

As described and this works!
Very good product. Have 2 cats that both took to it immediately. Bert the betta fish can breathe easier now, the cats have stopped drinking from the fish bowl. This unit holds a lot of water, if you top it off you are definitely OK to be absent for a long weekend.

Very Quiet
Love the idea of this. Can’t hear it at all, but my cat won’t go near it, so I am still turning on the water in the tub for him every night. Might be because he is 18 and set in his ways. Planning on getting kittens, so I will try it with them. Right now it is unplugged and just sitting on the floor.
