Great stopping power but very little clearance between the pads and rim, which can be a problem in muddy conditions. Cantis have much better clearance but not near the stopping power.

Worth the wait
Shipping took about a month as expected but these mini-v's are the best v brakes I've tried. Running great over 40c tires and feel is fantastic with 6800-series Ultegra levers. TRP is top notch!!

Yes, they are as good as the forums say.
The difference in braking, using provided pads, between the CX9s and the Tektro minis that were previously on the bike is amazing. Before, the rear brake was basically useless, unable to even lock up in a panic stop. Not anymore! Here is what I like the most about the CX9s:1) Braking strength is outstanding, even with provided pads.2) 90mm arms means more than enough clearance for huge CX tires. I use 44c snow tires with plenty of room left to grow.3) Works well with in-line cross levers...my setup uses only such levers, situated right behind Dura Ace bar end shifters on TT bars.4) Fit and finish is appropriate for the price.Adjustment is typical for V brakes...more finicky than calipers but not difficult once you know what you're doing.Pro tip: use adjustable noodles when installing these for quick tire changes.

Super awesome. I have RA and don't have a lot of strength in my hands - but these stop on a dime with little pressure.

throw out your cantis
Huge improvement over the stock cantis on my Kona Jake the Snake. I use this bike for CX, commuting, and gravel grinding/racing and the canti brakes have always given my hands a good hard white knuckle workout just to come to a noisy and weak stop. I have had hand cramping on longer, technical descents. I have had more than one incident in dicey conditions where lack of braking power nearly put me in a bad spot. I read enough reviews about these and finally scooped up a set. I am running them with 5700 Shimano 105 brifters. Set up was not too hard, this was my first attempt at installing v-brakes and with the recabling it took a few hours. I bought new brake cable as I knew I would come up short with the stock length. Also I opted for the Quickstop Salmon MTB pads I had been running on my cantis. No fit issues there and the MTB pad/post setup seemed a bit lower profile in relationship to the fork/brake arms. Short test ride afterwards (in the rain) and I nearly went over the bars with the improved power. Modulation was fine, levers are nowhere near bottoming out to get wheel-locking stoppage. I set the pads relatively close to the wheels and had to back them off just a tad because my wheels are not true. This extra bit of clearance between the pad and rim really made no difference with the increased power. Really a huge improvement over cantis, I am looking forward to coming into corners hotter out on the CX courses and scrubbing speed later on fast descents.

good brake for a cyclocross bike
After I bought a GT cyclocross bike a little less than a year ago, I started using it for daily commuting. Everything about the bike was perfect except for the fact that the stock road brakes were too weak and I found myself having to allow LOTS more space to slow down or stop. At first I tried switching pads to some KoolStop dual compound pads. Those helped, but I was still taking longer to stop on my 'cross bike than either my road or mountain bikes.I am impressed with these brakes. They bring the kind of stopping power to my 'cross bike that I used to enjoy only on my mtn. bike with disc brakes. I weigh about 215 lbs and I can lock up front and rear tires on the street easily with these brakes connected to my Ultegra brake/shifter levers. The modulation is fine for me, though I wonder if light riders may not find them a bit too strong to modulate easily. Now the only imperfect part of the bike is the rider.I suppose that now that manufacturers are bringing out 'cross bikes with disc brakes, that's going to be the preferred stopper, but if you have a 'cross bike that needs better brakes and you can't do the disc upgrade, this is a great option.
