Reliable Sprinkler Valve That Just Works
Reliable Sprinkler Valve That Just Works This Orbit anti-siphon automatic sprinkler valve is one of those backyard essentials that you don’t think much about—until you need it. Installation was straightforward: the ¾-inch threading fit perfectly with standard PVC fittings, and the built-in flow control made fine-tuning each zone much easier. I really appreciated that it doubles as a backflow preventer, so there’s no worry about dirty water getting pulled back into the main supply. Performance-wise, it’s been excellent. The valve opens and closes smoothly with no leaks or drips, and water pressure stays consistent across all sprinkler heads. The anti-siphon function is built right in, which saves space and avoids the need for a separate backflow device. The plastic housing feels sturdy and should hold up well to sun and weather exposure, though I’d recommend installing it in a shaded spot or adding a cover if you live in a high-heat area. The only thing to keep in mind is that, like most irrigation valves, it does make a faint clicking sound when it cycles, but nothing disruptive. Also, since it’s plastic, avoid overtightening the fittings to prevent hairline cracks. Bottom line: A dependable, easy-to-install sprinkler valve that gives peace of mind with its anti-siphon protection and reliable flow control—an excellent choice for any home irrigation system.

Good control valve
Ordered 4 of these to replace leaking valves on my irrigation system. I would give these 5 stars except one of the valves had a seal missing in the anti siphon valve. I had to scavenge a seal from one of the old valves to make it work.

Easy to install
This was actually cheaper than just trying to replace the Selanoid that I tried the first time and then discovered the valve was bad too. Very easy to replace if it was installed correctly in the first place. Don’t over tighten thing, they’re plastic

Orbit anti-siphon valves have caused me years of work, and they seldom are fixed
I'm disappointed in these Orbit anti-siphon valves, not only this one, but many others I have. They seldome work properly. This one arrived with a problem that water goes through it much, much more slowly than the previous valve that I replaced (another brand), that still worked, but got old and leaked. But at least a normal amount of water flowed through it. This new Orbit arrived and delivers a slow flow when the handle is turned all the way up (counterclockwise), which is all the way on. On the positive side, Orbit does include a customer service number to call for help. (I have to call it often for many othr Orbit anti-siphon values with problems.) I couldn't believe the company response. Even though it had only arrived promptly from Amazon two days before it was installed, and it had this problem upon installation, Orbit would not replace it. Instead, she required me to take a photo and email it to her. Then (after the weekend o course) they'd review my email to examine what I had to anti-siphone side hooked to (a drip line). Now that side is not the problem. I have learned through other calls for their help that when the water isn't flowing or it isn't flowing properly, that's a problem with the side with the knob which attaches to the water line. (When it leaks out of the other side with the anti-siphon valve then they send new washers and a part to unscrew the anti-siphone valve and replace.) My water wasn't flowing properly, so that means the problem is on the intake or side with the knob which controls the water flow. She knew it too. So to make life difficult for me (I guess) rather than replace a defective product with possibly an old seal inside––possibly––she made me take a phot and wait 7-10 business days for a new easher to arrive at my house. (By then my plants would be dead here in the desert.) She didnt' care. She said it's their policy. First, I have to take a photo, wait for them to see it, then wait anouther 7-10 business days for them to mail me a new rubber seal. Not only that, but there are 10 screws I'd have to loosen successfully on that side with the handle to take to top off. (I had just told her I was unable to unscrew the other Orbit anti-siphon valve in the back yard I just installed. It was leaking on the anti-siphone side, so the top needed to be unscrewed so that new rubber washers and a plastic part could be replaced. But even though I used a wrench i use for plumbing, I could get it to turn. I even tapped it several times and tried aith all my strength. But that's a second item that I didn't get from Amazon. So here I'm only talking about this Orbit I just ordered from Amazon. I am shocked that Orbit wouldn't happily replace this new anti-siphone valve i'd only had two days, that was just installed yesterday. Instead, to make me take photos, email them, and then require me to take 10 screws loose when I'd just told her I couldn't get the lid losse on the other one. Then to make me troubleshoot, wait 7-10 business days to repair the part when the seal arrives, and hope it would ix the problem (which I've learned it usually does not with Orbit) seems inappropriate. Orbit should have just replaced the brand new anti-siphon valve that didn't work when it was installed. What a hassle. Good thing that even with my disability I can work slowly and accomplish a few things that not all other people would want to tackle when the receive a new product that isn't working right. The volunteers from a church had come to install this defective one for me. But now, I have to do far more troubleshooting and more difficult steps because Orbit sold me a product that doesn't work properly. I wonder if wnyone would like to have to disassemble and take apart the side with 10 screws and replace the internal parts after wating two weeks to a new valve that came assembled? It never worked properly since installed yesterday. The good news is how kind Amazon.com customer service was. He understood immediately. And even though Amazon's computer system was down yesterday for returns, he handled it for me and a new one is on its way from Amazon. If the stars were for Amazon;s good customer service, it would have 5 gold stars. But this is to rate the product. Hope this helps you know both about the frequently defective or problematic anti-siphon valve I struggle with from Orbit. The good troubleshooting telephone line you can call for help. But the unkind choices of this partiular Orbit tech support woman to make me go through all troubleshoot and repairs on a brand new product and refuse to replace it (which is trouble enough). Who wants to receive a new product that isnt' working right?
