Another View

Love this book. But it said as a used book it was in "good" condition. I do not agree.

Was disappointed, it was just a hard story to get into. Couldn’t hold my interest and I didn’t finish it. I always finish my books, sadly couldn’t do it with this story.

I didn't know until I read, that this was from late 60s, by Ms. Pilcher. It had great imagery as always but I didn't like it as well as later books. But it was still interesting, and I liked the relationships. There are only two men in Emma's life--her father, a remote artist who leaves her in boarding school and sees her every few years, and Christo, who has been her stepbrother, but hasn't seen her in years and now wants to get to know her. I liked the ending, yes a "HEA".

Another View was disappointing. Unlike other Pichner novels, the story seemed contrived. I never believed Emma to be real nor did I sympathize with her. However I was, as always in a Pilchner novel, swept away by her beautiful and haunting landscapes. For this reason it was marvelous . One I shall probably read again.

Enma's talented artist father is seldom there when Emma feels she needs him. Her actor brother, Christo, is self-absorbed, intent on his career. When Emma's father remarries and goes to live in America with his new wife, it seems as though he is abandoning his daughter completely. However, despite appearances, both Emma's father and brother do love her, and care about her, in their own way, and how Emma comes to terms with this, and creates her own life makes a compelling story. The moral, if there is one, is things aren't always exactly what they seem to be.

Unusual story for Rosamunde Pilcher. Characters not as well developed as in most of her stories. Perhaps story intended characters be more uninvolved as they were. Daughter hoped for more time with father/artist but he was off to other interests. Nice wrap-up to the story.Artist

I love every one of Rosamunde Pilchers's books that I have read. I look forward to others. No grizzly murders!! What a delight..and no nightmares!

A beautiful collection of short stories. Perfect reading for the pandemic or anytime you need to hear positive stories that remove you from your own world.

An enjoyable story with a satisfying ending. Like other reviewers I thought the characters could have been developed more fully. I wasn't completely convinced about the father's role in relation to Emma, particularly that his role at the end seemed inconsistent with his behaviour at the beginning. What a lot of social drinking and smoking! A story worth reading but I would have liked to know more about the main characters.

Page 261 at the end of the book, Emma says that Christopher is her brother and Robert responds with, 'How was I supposed to know'. - However, he was perfectly aware of the relationship between Emma and Christopher, as the day he first met Emma, he took her to lunch in Marcello's and she talked in depth about Christopher. Please explain........I really like Ms Pilcher's works, but they do seem to pose questions.

Very tedious, 2d characters and filled with clichés. Avoid!If this is your first encounter with Rosamunde Pilcher I pity you. Go for one of her great novels such as: The Shell Seekers September Coming Home or Winter SolsticeThe Shell SeekersSeptemberComing HomeWinter Solstice

Great story believable characters as always ,pity it wasn't longer ,good holiday read .Rosalind Pilcher always delivers a warm feeling when you read her books .

I chose this rating as I thought at first it was not my type of story but it we and I enjoyed it
