very sturdy . should last a lifetime

This is very well built with high quality metal. It will definitely hold up to the elements and even a few knocks and dings. It’s very satisfying to have such a high quality vent on the house.It fit tightly into my 4” dryer vent and I had to use a lot of force to push it in. It held up well to the pushes and wiggles and it looks like new. I’m satisfied that it will stay put and not leak air around the joint.I deducted one star because the flap does not close completely. There is about a quarter inch gap when there is no airflow. The screen is solid so I’m not worried about critters getting in but it would be nice to be a bit more airtight.I ordered a second one for another vent.

It says "magnetic sheet attaches and closes the air outlet to prevent foreign objects from entering". No it does not. The flap does not close on its own. The only thing that's preventing anything from entering is the mesh screen, but that'll only prevent larger animals from entering.

Bottom bracket loosely

We live in an older house (101 years old) and after we bought the house and got settled in I went to town caulking, weather stripping and air sealing as much as I possibly could. But even after a lot of work, there was still what I was calling a “mystery draft”. Well, after talking to a co worker who also has her dryer on the west side of her house, I finally had a lightbulb moment and realized the draft was coming from the outdoor dryer vent (which was an old, plain louvered vent that was missing a louver). When I saw this outdoor dryer exhaust vent I immediately requested it. I can already tell a difference in not only the amount of warm air that is coming through the dryer vent (which is nearly none), but also I have noticed that my clothes are drying more quickly. I definitely recommend this! The best feature is the flap that only opens from the inside when you turn on the dryer, and also the mesh on the bottom of the exhaust vent is useful too, so critters can’t get in through the opening. My husband installed the exhaust vent, but it took him no time at all and the results are fantastic!

Duct is smaller than advertised. Does not form a tight seal. Makes installation harder than expected.Duct flap is very light and does not have a spring closure. Could allow bugs entry.Good quality steel and welds.
