Excellent and entertaining read for movie buffs and a great resource for students of cinema alike. Also th ekind of book you can dip in and out of without needing to read it chronologically.

I met Francine at the Royal Society for Literature three decades ago and listen to her weekly filrm programme with great pleasure. I am equally enjoying her history book. Thanks for sending it and cheers till my next ebook purchase of "Sapiens".

Really enjoyed this. But then I've always been a fan of Francine's work. Found it easy to read and loved the unusual, personal approach. Some of Stock's film choices are unexpected but always interesting - even if I didn't neccessarily agree with them. Read this book!
