good refresher
Good book as a refresher dealing with ATPL questions for an airline interview. It is quite comprehensive and treats various subjects. Nice to have in your presonal library.

Improved, but not enough
This edition has improved over the last edition. Some answers have been corrected. However, there are still some answers that are clearly wrong and this reflect fundamental misconception of the author. For example, the notorious "dutch roll" explanation in the first edition has been re-written, the initial part is mostly correct until the author wrote "a marked bank occurs to the point where the outer, upward wing exceeds its critical angle of attack, stalls and lose all lift". Firstly, in Dutch roll the airplane roll back to level position not because the upward wing is stalled, it's because the plane has lateral stability that is TOO GOOD. Secondly, an up-going wing actually will have a SMALLER angle of attack as the relative airflow to the up-going wing has a downward component in it. This example shows the author lack of understanding in this particular area. Still, I must give the author a fairer comment as this book has covered a lot of different aspects in great details despite some consistent annoying typos (e.g. camber => chamber throughout) and occasional overly complicated explanation. I would recommend you to buy this book but do your own research when you are doubtful about the answers and be careful when you quote it. In short, this is definitely a great preparatory book for any technical interview. But for a second edition, i would expect more, at least better proof-reading.

Old
Two issues that make this okay, but not really super-helpful. First, it's old. Many FARs and procedures have changed since this thing came out, so many items are not correct. That's a HUGE problem when using this to study for an airline interview. That alone makes it not worth buying until the next iteration comes out. Second, this is written by a British guy, and the focus is on European flying ops. Superwonderfulfantastic if that's where you live, but for American airline interviews, the differences make this book very problematic. I wouldn't recommend this to any serious airline interviewees.

That’s nice book for prep. It’s so hard read all, so my recommendation is check the quiz which are in the company question before asked.

Very useful to remember some theory to prepare an interview

I purchased this book on recommendation from others in preparation for an upcoming technical assessment with a U.K. based airline. After the 1st chapter, the amount of knowledge that I’d remembered from years ago, new ways of explaining these facts and broadening my own knowledge on areas I hadn’t encountered before. Most importantly though, this book enabled me to walk into that assessment with confidence in my own ability and that simply is worth the price and more. I’ve now secured my first pilot job, and it was thanks to this book!
