Definitely keeps cold for days!
I recently had two cross country trips where I needed to bring my migraine injectables that would not fit in to the various coolers made for insulin. I wasn't quite sure what I would do - other than try to get my meds locally - when I saw this item online. It looks a little hokey but works well. It took about 15 min of submerging in cool water to activate the crystals and cool the wallet. It easily fit three (capped) syringes. The kit comes with an inner envelope for your meds and an outer envelop as an extra wrapper. The outer wallet gets a little damp, but not enough to make things around it wet. I only needed the wallet to keep things cold for a few days, but it easily could have kept them cold for up to two weeks! Instructions say not to seal the cold pack in anything air tight (like a plastic bag), I don't know if this would include storing it in checked luggage (but who would leave their meds in checked luggage!?). I kept it in my carryon and TSA didn't flag it as suspicious (as they have for my mother's insulin cooler). The inner and outer envelops did take quite a while to completely dry out, but I didn't mind.

Doctor recommended and for good reason
Our nurse recommended FRIO packs as being the top way to transport insulin and this Extra Large pack didn't disappoint. We took a trip to CA recently and had no problems with the insulin spoiling. However, we did learn a few things:1. Follow the instructions completely. They may be a bit overwhelming but read them carefully.2. Don't think you can just put your insulin in the FRIO pack and go; it does take time to get the pack ready.3. Don't over-saturate the FRIO insert; if you do, they can be difficult to manage.4. Don't think these will be as cool as a refrigerator - they aren't intended to be that cold, they are intended to keep the insulin below room temperature and that's about it. Don't be alarmed if you feel inside and it doesn't feel like an icebox.Really, everything is based from following #1. I felt the extra large wallet was just too big for our family; if we were to purchase again I'd just buy two large wallets instead. It all depends on how long you plan to be away from a fridge and how much insulin you require.

Very disappointed with this product
I am so disappointed with this item. Took 15 hr flight so pens were in there total of 30hrs and had them on plane with me. All looked good, easy directions but got to my destination and opened immediately. Covered in slime wet yuck.awful. not cold. I had it separated in own compartment in carry on and thank God because all wet. Had to usevmy products, safe anyways. I threw this out. Waste of money. Didn't investigate but thinking back probably a hole in it somewhere. Jellyfish stuff on it. Gross

Works great. Trust the reviews.
Does what it says it does. The size fits more insulin pens than stated. (Novo rapid sized pens) I bought this for a month long vacation so it wasn't an appropriate size but for a weekend getaway - a 2 week vacation it is appropriate. I haven't used this piece but I also purchases the duo pack and the gel works great. I was super nervous buying it, but trust the reviews. It works! Good to note that I live in Dubai and it's summer now, meaning 45°c + days and it still keeps the same 'cool' slightly below room temperature feel. However, the gel needs to be recharged much faster. I recharge it roughly every 30 hours, but I could probably leave it up to 48hours if I wasn't walking outside so much. The gel time lasted as advertised when I was on vacation in the Mediterranean (around 30°c). I have included this in my review to point out that the cooling technology still works in extremely high temperatures, just it dehydrates the pack faster. This was my main reservation in purchasing the pack. Still much more convienent than ensuring you have a frozen ice pack available all the time. Those last maximum about 90 mins in the Dubai Summer.

The bag works as advertised
The cooling bag keeps my insulin at about 60 degrees F which is fine for travel.I have the smaller version for single pens and the bigger bag works exactly the same way.

This product works very well, exceeds promised performance.
This product delivers! I was sceptical, however needed something for several long and/multi-day flights to keep insulin pens at proper temp. Each was able to hold four (4) pens within, and stayed cool to the touch for over five (5) full days. Insulin was preserved. You must follow the instructions, and be sure to dry the interior before use, as there is an initial "slimy" substance that presents inside, which is easily removed w a towel or paper towel. The activated pouch is thicker than expected, however fits well within the included outer pouch. These were packed in in carry-on and checked baggage, with no problems at screening.
