Well built
The media could not be loaded. It works very well. All the components seemed very high-quality. I did have to tighten the two screws on the bottom before I first used it. Due to the square shape of the ignot it is a little difficult to get them out of the mold but again that’s due to the shape, not the quality of the product.

Does what it's designed for.
After reading the mixed reviews, I feel the record needs to be set straight. It's an ingot mold designed to make an ingot that will be rolled out on a mill or forged / formed into a finished product. Ingot molds are not designed to pour a finished piece of wire or stock. The machining is a bit rough. But, all the imperfections in the ingot are smoothed out once rolled in a mill.

Does the job
Item arrived with a damaged wood handle. The mold does not have a smooth finish either, which is unsuitable for actual use. You will need to clean it up yourself, or pay someone to finish it better. If you choose to use it as is, you will have cut lines throughout all of your material.

Wanted to hope, but it’s just not going to work
This mold seems sturdy enough and with the mixed reviews, I was hoping for the price, maybe I’d get lucky. But I’m a jeweler and work with precious metals. This mold should have been smooth, but it’s so rough that any pour gets stuck and you have to force it out and then do extra work to clean up the rough texture left behind, with so much waste. It’s just not worth it. Will have to return and get the Durston.
