This star is huge
The description tells me it is huge but I guess I wasn't paying attention and it also tells me it is for scrapbooking - again - wasn't paying attention - my bad. Anyway, it is a nice 1.5-inch across star. I have found uses for it...like making Christmas decorations with the grandkids. I even made some leather and felt Christmas. earrings.

Sturdy, but hard to tell where it will punch
For the value, I feel like it's a better deal to get the 3 pack for a couple more bucks than the 12 dollars it is for the 1.5 inch one. It's easy to use, my only complaint is that from the top down, it's a little difficult to tell where on the paper it will punch the star shape. I do like that the stars themselves have cute little rounded edges, and there's a plastic cover over the bottom to catch the punches that you can empty out at your convenience.

Great for crafters of all ages
Easy to use and safe to use for variety of ages. Great for paper, crafting scrapbooking card, making etc. would also be great to have in a classroom. I use this to make homemade seed paper as a party favor, and it was very easy to use. Great item to have in your crafting toolbox.

It works…
…clean, crisp edges on copy paper doubled over. Not sure how it would work on thicker paper. Card stock would probably be fine, anything thicker like water color paper might be a challenge. Stars deducted because the star does NOT measure 1.5”. It measures 1/8” less. I needed that extra 1/8”!

Great to Have!
I was very happy to get an opportunity to receive this 1.5" star punch. I already had the three smaller stars, so this is a nice one to add to my collection. I have a Brother Scan'nCut that can produce stars of that size or any size by the dozen as well as a Gemini Junior that if I have a star die in this size I can also make a lot of stars with it. However, both of these machines need to be set up, plugged in, the Brother needs to be set up by the design, size, and where you want it cut out. The gemini, I also have to find the star die. A lot of work if I only have the need for one star, is it not? So I am happy to have multiple ways to make what I need for whatever project I am working on. For a very small amount of stars, I would use the punches unless you need a star punched out of the cardstock in a precise place which is not something you can do with the punch as you have to punch from the side of the paper. Depending on where you want the star punch you will need to decide which electronic machine will work for your project. Both of the the electronic machines can be purchased on Amazon, which is where I got mine. When I got the star punch today I also got some white shimmer cardstock and so tried the star punch out on it. It cut cleanly especially the star points. They will not go to waste as Iike having precut pieces for when I need to make a card in a hurry. I also punched out stars using my three smaller star punches and they will also be set aside for future use. One thing I noticed today, that I hadn't prior to this. All of my star punches has a very small vertical bump out on both sides of the punch right where the midline of the stars will be. This means that if you lightly draw a line with pencil on your paper that if you line up this with that small bump all your stars will be cut in the same place. I suspect that all my punches will have the same bump out but I am currently too lazy to go check. I have been this wishing since I got my first punches that I had a way to center them in the same place for each punch. DUH.I appreciate getting the opportunity to try out this larger star punch. Thank you.

works great
I'm using this for card making and it works great, and is a much better price than the ones you can buy from the specialty card making supply companies. The only thing is that theirs are metal and this one is plastic on the outside and metal inside. One tip, if the metal cutter inside the punch gets dull, you can fold up aluminum foil several thicknesses, and punch that in it. I have been told that this works to make the punch sharp again, though I have not tried this, but a lot of youtube people say it works. Do not use this punch with heavy fibrous paper as it will tend to stick. This works best on card stock or designer series paper, not the stuff with a fiber running through it.
