Came packaged very well, packed as to not break the crucible or inget mold. Assembly was easy, even came with the tread tape needed to assemble the propane hose and regulator. Includes everything to get started into melting except safety equipment.

I bought this thinking it would be a good starter smelter, and I was right. It's not a bad unit, the 70 or 80 pounds of lead, brass, copper & aluminum I've melted down shows that, but it does have a few issues. Or I have a few issues, can't discount that.First, putting the insulating blanket in, you have to be very, very careful when doing the upper edge of the main body blanket, and the lid. If you don't get it perfectly smooth, you'll have flame coming out around the edges. Not really an issue, but I wish now I'd done a better job.Second, the burner doesn't fit quite right as it's made. If you fasten the thumbscrews to the collar at the end of the burner, where it fits the best, the burner & flame are too far back, and you get a largish glowing spot around the burner mount. Pushing the burner far enough in to counter that & the thumbscrews barely touch the body of the burner. Solution: cut a piece of pipe & fit it around the burner just behind the collar.Other than that, I'm glad I bought it, and I've already planned my next smelter, based on what I've learned from this one & things I've read & seen online.Bottom line: if you're looking for a small or starting smelter, you could do worse than this one.

The tongs that come with this set-up are WAY TOO SMALL!!! I didn't realize this until it was too late. I had melted a lot of copper and when I went to pour it in the molds, I unfortunately found out it was almost impossible to hold the red hot crucible with the tongs that came with it. As I attempted to pour the molten copper, the tongs slipped on the crucible and enough copper poured out onto the pavement to cover 100 square feet with with red hot molten copper beads. The tongs simply won't do the job without risk. So I cant continue using the smelter until I buy bigger tongs. Another problem I'm worried about is, a bunch of insulation stuck to the bottom of the hot crucible. If it keeps sticking, I'll have to replace the insulation on the bottom of the smelter. Other than those problems, the smelter worked great.FYI, if ya turn the gas on too low when it's burning in the smelter because ypur trying to slowly heat the crucible, the flame will flow backwards towards the nozzle and burn inside the tube between the nozzle to the smelter, which can become very dangerous.

I absolutely love this boundary. I'm not exactly easy on my tools and this thing is stood up to multiple melts. There's Bunches of videos on YouTube to help you get set up and started and this kit is amazing

UPDATED:Previously received the product but had a damaged crucible. I reached out and within 24-hours had a response about it. It was addressed immediately and a new crucible was on its way within a few days. I never mind "errors" its how you rectify them that matters.
