Love it, but would like some minor improvements and some Gen1 stuff brought back
Fantastic lighter holder…. HOWEVER… for the love of all things holy Thyrm why would you make the first gen able to stand upright and then REMOVE that ability from the gen2? I also really hate how you can’t use the newer model butane inserts from zippo because the chimneys are slightly too tall… SO FIX EM! Release a 2.1 version that fixes both the taller chimneys and the upright standing ability. Both super easy fixes. Other than, this case blew me away by how much longer the traditional zippo inserts with wick and cotton last in this thing. I mean literally by an extra week, by an extra 100 lights, by an extra amount that was so noticeable, I actually ordered a Gen1 and second Gen2 armor cases. The Gen1 is nice because it stands upright on its own, which WOULD be useful for butane so the butane can settle properly vertically… however it too will not fit the newer butane inserts. However, I do also like the built in clip that allows you to clip it to stuff. A 2.1 version, could bring that clip back but extend the length so it’s fully molle compatible or 1.5” belt compatible. The fact that when you strike to ignite your thumb hits the little door latch is INSANELY annoying so you never do get a full strike, but it can be worked around. Just seems like a small oversight that could easily be fixed with V2.1. Do I think it’s worth it? For edc, yes. It just makes your lighter last longer bar none, and it makes your your lighter much more tough. Wind resistance is just as good as any other zippo, and the functionality at least in gen1 was higher than gen2. Sure there is a lanyard loop, but honestly who is using this with a lanyard? I would recommend on a 2.1 version or a gen 3 version that they add a lanyard loop sure, but again bro g back the full size belt clip from Gen1 and make it molle/1.5” compatible, but ALSO, the biggest thing, would be allow the newest design to still be rugged and tough, but fit inside the zippo molle pouches. The zippo brand molle pouches and the 550 paracord pouch would be an EXCELLENT pairing that Thyrm could do so that like me, you can then edc the tough armor cases in those respective pouches as right now they’re just too big to fit. Keep the overbuilt design, but slim it down a bit to make it more edc friendly. Maybe a Gen3 is needed?

Does not fit all Zippos
Advertised to fit Zippo lighters. It was too small for my Zippo lighter.

Cool case but not watertight
Definitely a cool and rugged case for your zippo inserts but failed a submersion test for me. Put some paper towel pieces inside and closed the latch, submerged for about 10 minutes and it had water intrusion after I pulled it out. Looking at mine and at the pictures here it looks like the top doesn’t sit down flush all the way around or clamp down tightly enough to seal it properly. For the money they definitely could have done a better job making this case truly watertight. Kind of disappointed with this one compared to other Thyrm products I own. Will still use it as a case but will have to avoid getting it super wet in the future.

easy to install
The media could not be loaded. it springs open, which is really nice. You can put a couple extra flints at the bottom. It comes with a little piece of firestarter which you could put your own in there. If you wanted to I have not tested it to see if it’s waterproof but the only thing I have found is when you, unlatch the top and go to strike it. Your thumb hits the little opener to the top cap and that’s literally my only complaint. Other than that. I went from refilling my Zippo every two days to almost every 5 to 6 days now.

Hard to use.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Materials, fit and finish are very good. However, visible in most of the photos, the side of the cover where the hinge is contains a gap that the side where the catch is does not. It's entirely possible that the gasket still works, but it looks uneven and I fear it's not as well sealed as it should be.More problematic is that with the zippo insert installed, the lever for the catch sits in exactly the right spot to block your thumb from activating the lighter without some gymnastics. This makes it VERY inconvenient to actually *use*. And the repeated strikes from the thumb activating the lighter will add extra stress to the plastic lock. Also, minor annoyance: It doesn't sit flat at all.As an emergency lighter, it's adequate. But I wouldn't recommend this.

Meh
Have to have the zippo flipper in the up position all the time. Doesn't seem to leak. Seams aren't great and fit and finish is just OK
