Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer

My drum teacher recommended this book and I know it's a little dated but the lessons are invaluable. Great for novice and intermediate's.

My son's drum teacher recommended this book for him. He is only 7 and uses it to practice the skills he has learnt that week in his lesson. It's great for him to be independent and he can follow it lesson by lesson. Great price compared to other online sellers

This is a classic book of exercises that was born out of a drum teachers need. The author worked hard carefully writing out each exercise by hand with the intention of creating this book so he could save time and his pupils could develop the skill needed to progress in playing syncopated rhythms. It works. It's stood the test of time having been around for over 40yrs and is in the top 5 drum books to own & use list. There's a catch though... Just as Ted Reed the author put in many hours working on this book you will have to do so too. Check out the videos on Youtube and work through the book. Use your imagination after you complete the book and apply the patterns so instead of beats they are rhythms and 1 bar is used as a 4 bar phrase. What you can do through this book is only limited by your mind. Practice the exercises and your skill WILL improve. Mine has.

I'm teaching myself to read bass clef and this book has been phenomenal at explaining rhythmic structure and getting my brain accustom to reading notes on a page. I've found that once I understood the note values and could tap out all the exercises in the book, that when I picked up my bass grade book my playing went through the roof as I no longer had to take time to work out the rhythms, now I just have to focus on the note pitch. Every musician sound study this book if you're serious about reading notation.

Love this book so much! My teacher recommended this book to me, and there is so much you can do with it, to advance your four way coordination. Great book!

Great price and fast delivery

This is a standard and a must have for every serious drummer. Unfortunately I did receive a copy with a print which was grey instead of black. But AMAZON dealt with this situation as usually in a very helpful and understanding way. So actually I would give 4 stars to the book because of the poor print but 6 stars to AMAZON for handling the problem, :-).
