The Catalan: Move by Move (Everyman Chess)

I'm a 1500 tournament player, and I really enjoy studying games in this format. Throughout the book, Neil McDonald teaches on much more than just the opening. I devote two hours a day to improving in chess, and this book allowed me to use my time efficiently. I enjoyed Neil McDonald's teaching style so much, I ended up buying his book covering the King's Indian Attack. I have enjoyed the flexibility I get by opening with 1. Nf3 and 2. g3, and I am then able to choose between the Catalan and the King's Indian Attack depending on black's response.

still good but not as good as many of his earlier books

Large size book with clear print and very simple to understand explanations of the concepts behind this opening. Plenty of diagrams to guide the reader also is a plus.The example games given are very entertaining and informative.
