You and Warren Buffett: Partners in Success
Everybody knows or suspects that brilliant investing is extremely complicated. But wait--maybe it isn't! This book, like Matthew Kratter's others, is deceptively simple. Simple to read, simple to understand, simple to act upon. I received it in exchange for an honest review, and this is that review. Here's how Warren Buffett built his 70-billion dollar fortune, and how you can get started on yours. First, he figured out what kind of companies he wanted to invest in. Then he figured out when to buy them. Then he did it. It isn't that hard to grasp, but it does take a bit of patience, because the key is to WAIT for the right moment to make those stock buys. This is all spelled out in sparkling, clear language, and it does not require an advanced degree in math, physics, investments, or anything, really. Everything you need is in this quick-read book. And as a bonus, he gives you a link to a list of current Great Businesses to invest in---not necessarily today, but when the time is right (which he vividly explains in the book). From personal experience, I know that Matthew Kratter knows what he's talking about and if you have any questions or observations, simply drop him an e-mail and he will respond almost immediately.I hope he never stops clearing away the "fog of investment war". I believe you can expect more wisdom to come from Matt in months and years to come, and frankly, I can't wait.

Short but Sweet
Short but sweet. I read this in less than a day then went back and highlighted the important information. This book would have gotten a higher rating but most of the internet links in this book don't work. That being said more time could have been spent on where to find some of the statistics, ratios, and ratings needed for the described decision process.

Simple concise and to the point
Very easy to read and uncomplicated. Just what a beginner to investing needs to understand, yet insightful enough to be thought proking for someone who understands the numbers. Blending business knowledge and investment strategy.

Basic but mostly clear
I'm grateful for the instruction to look at multiple-year trends relative to income and expenses and financial statements. The equations could be better formatted (e.g. LaTeX rather than text), and one equation didn't make sense: return on total capital = (net income + interest expense)/(shareholder equity + long-term debt)? Why wouldn't you subtract interest expense from income, given that it is an expense and not income? I suspect this is a typo, but it is very important to be clear whether payments to shareholders (if that's what he means here, which also is unclear) helps or hurts a company's ability to generate future profits. It seems to me to depend on the situation the company is in.
