An introduction to scented yellow tea
Yellow tea is a dying art. The farmers who make it are either dying of old age or starting to make other teas instead because yellow tea is not as well known as green or black tea and is much harder to produce. If a resurgence in interest does not occur, yellow tea may be lost forever. That would be a tragedy.Yellow tea is my favorite tea and this jasmine yellow tea is the one I started with. It has an interesting taste to say the least and if you like green and white teas, absolutely try this. Drinking yellow tea is a truly unique experience and any seasoned tea drinker should have a spot for yellow tea in their cabinet.I love yellow tea, but I'm not as into scented teas (like jasmine pearls) as I am into pure teas. For a Jasmine tea, this is an excellent and unique experience compared to green or white jasmines. Either way, it's delicious and it also tastes good if you age it in a stable environment. I recommend putting it in a tea tin instead, but that's my preference. If you want a good *unscented* yellow that is cost conscious, try the one Davidson's organics makes. It's a masterpiece. They have a lot of excellent teas if you buy it off of their site. Also their Formosa oolong is fantastic. Don't buy their Earl grey, it's an absolute disaster.P.S. The person who said this tea tastes like grass clippings probably drinks lipton ctc tea bags. This tastes nothing like grass because of the sealing process they do on yellow tea. I'd be shocked if they actually bought it, much less tried it. Absolutely pathetic.Yellow tea does not have the grassiness of green tea because they go through a process where they remove the grassiness. Good God, read a book before you make up reviews about teas you've obviously never tasted. Also if you are just buying a tea because you think it's going to taste like something from Teavana, you are honestly not going to enjoy unique teas at the level that you could. It will not meet your expectations because it cannot. It is not the same thing. Treat each tea like a new experience and drink it alone so that other people do not skew your expectations with the first impression they blurt out of their mouth. Expect nothing and appreciate everything. It is a wise practice with tea.

This is NOT a replacement for Teavana Golden Dragon
The one tea I repeatedly got from Teavana was their Golden Dragon yellow tea (GDYT). There other teas were replaceable. Unlike pretty much any other tea, GDYT had a very mellow sweetness and smooth buttery finish. This is why so many others mention it and are seeking it out. The color of the leaves ranged from "brused banana" to yellow to yellow-green. Out of curiousity, I've actually eaten one of the leaves and it had a toasted nutty flavor with no astringency and just the slightest hint of bitterness.THIS tea is not that tea. The leaf color ranges from a blackish green to a greenish yellow. The taste of the dry leaves is very much like a green tea with just a hint of toasting. The brewed cup isn't harsh, but has both astringency and bitterness that you would never associate with GDYT.When I'm not comparing it to Godlen Dragon - which is hard because that's still my standard - I'd have to say the tea is okay. It's a nice-enough cup of tea for the money. Neither bad nor great. But if you came here looking for a replacement for the Golden Dragon, and if you aren't prepared for a substantial dropoff from those heights, this is not going to be for you.Even though this is probably only a third the cost of the Golden Dragon, I'm still not sure it merits the price. I'm on the fence, there. Maybe it's a third as good?

Just as good as Teavana’s Golden Dragon!
I took a chance and decided to try this tea because Teavana had discontinued carrying the Golden Dragon tea in their stores. Happily, Tealyra’s Huang Cha is a spot on replacement for my favorite tea. It has a smooth light buttery flavor and it’s light like a white tea but with a little more flavor of an oolong. I’m really happy to have found a replacement for my favorite tea and I will be ordering more from Tealyra.

The best cup of tea I've had yet!
I've gone through a great variety of specialty teas in search of a truly spectacular cup... needless to say, I have finally found it. Overall, the tea gives an incredibly sweet, brown sugar flavor with undertones of malt and cacao, while maintaining a fantastic delicate floral flavor and a unique freshness. Absolutely FANTASTIC cup of tea. Brewed @ 175 with fresh spring water and brews a spectacular cup of tea over 5 times with the same leaf. Never bitter.

Tastes like my front lawn
I am an avid tea drinker. This tea is NOT good. It tastes as if I were steeping grass clippings from my front yard.. Maybe even grass clippings that have dog poo in them.If someone offers it to you, HARD PASS!

Beautiful color and taste
Decent yellow tea for the price. This is the best yellow tea you will have under $160 bucks considering they don’t export thisbmuch. Did you know yellow tea was made just for wmperoros it important govt. officials in China? They lost the processing method for over 100 years and recently found it. It’s pretty good tea here. The liquor has a beautiful golden color, that’s very pleasing to the eye. I would reccomend this

Must Have for the Tea Connoisseur
A connoisseur of fine tea should not go another day without Huang Cha in their lineup. Fine, clean, fresh with a slightly floral / earthy finish.I used to get yellow tea (Huang Cha) at my local independent tea emporium. Due to the Pandemic, they cut back on the selection and no longer offer Huang Cha. Tealrya Huang Cha is excellent.
