Windfallen

My second book of Jojo Moyes. Can't get enough. Will try another. I find her writing direct and interesting. Her characters are deep and real. The situations unique. The two that I have read are totally different. There does not seem to be a 'formula' here. Thank heavens. Not a romance novel in any way. Just a story about real people with intriguing plot lines.....but not so far from real life.....

When you read the synopsis of the book it talks about Daisy, who is a designer for the Arcadia house. And you are half way or more through the book when you finally read about her. The synopsis of the book inside the front cover needs to change. Because this book is mostly about Lottie’s life and her family. Daisy does play a part and I like her story. This book is about relationships and how much we need to work at them with love, kindness, charity, forgiveness, honesty, and weathering the storms together for them to flourish. Lottie Swift and Celia Holden are like sisters. But when Celia leaves and goes to London and her constant fibbing that now extends to lying to Lottie starts to corrode their relationship. When Celia comes home and brings Guy to introduce to her family. This is the straw that breaks Lottie and Celia’s sibling like relationship. Jojo Moyes is a talented writer/author!

I honestly don't remember who narrated the story. The book is a British novel that uses British expressions and terminology. As an American, it was hard to follow in some places because I didn't know if the character was being nasty or being funny. Entertaining book, but not nearly as good as "Me Before You," or "The Girl He Left Behind."

I loved this book. It took me a bit to get into but when I did......wow! It was hard to put down. The character s are great. The storyline is wonderful.

Just recently found JoJo Moyes. Her writing is captivating and is keeping me up at night. Character development is on par and just makes you want more. I wish I’d found her sooner. Many more books to go!

As far as I'm concerned, she writes novels you just want curl up with a thermos of coffee and block out the world till you finish reading her book. I first read Me Before You. I then started reading everything she has written. This book held my attention just as the others have. You will love it! The characters become your friends and their stories so interesting. Loved Windfallen!

I enjoy reading JoJo Moyes' books and I enjoyed this book too but it is one of her earlier books, so I truly enjoyed and liked the book but not as much as her more recent books. I do not want to give the plot away but I can tell you the story is a good one that kept me engaged. Although it moved a bit slowly than Me Before You or The Girl You Left Behind, it is a good read. The characters are interesting and complex, i.e. real life characters and there were a few stories being told simultaneously. The ending is strong and writing is always great.

I love Jojo Moyes and this book did not disappoint! Great characters and an interesting story.

Eine super geschichte, die wie alle Jojo Moyes bücher sehr schwer wegzulegen ist, wenn man einmal angefangen hat.

This is plain sad and unfortunate! I am a fan of JoJo Moyes but when you get old wine in a new bottle or an old book with a new name , it's a total let down! So just a warning for folks who are planning to buy it thinking it's a new one ....it's foreign fruit renamed

This was a great read. I like the author so if you are a fan you will enjoy this read with a few surprises in the making and I also found it to be realistic. One can relate and that is what I love best about her stories.

We always enjoy a Jojo Moyes book and this was no exception. One small quibble, though. I checked her biography and she comes from Maidstone, so surely she speaks and writes like wot I do. Why, then, within two lines in the book do we read 'smoldering' and then 'moldering', and, further on, 'traveling' and then references to 'diapers' (not yet finished so there may be other horrors to come)? It's a good job I was already sitting down when I read those. Later, having finished (Colette asks me to clarify that this review was written by her other half). The rest of the book has yet more American spellings. 'Marvelous', 'catalog', 'offense', 'practice' as a verb, 'molding', more 'traveling', 'behavior', 'humor', 'theater', 'counselors', 'maneuvering' etc. Don't get me wrong. That's how they do it over the pond, no problem. But, changing the spelling of a book by a British writer for the American market is a bit odd, to say the least. I never noticed Sara Paretsky books having spelling altered to the UK version, nor would I expect it. It's an annoyance, nothing more. I'll survive but I need a cup of tea and a lie-down. PS. I've read this through several times to try to make sure that Muphry's Law can't be invoked.
