Q: I asked if it has a speaker on it, some are telling me 0.4w and others are saying it doesn't have one? Which is it lol?

Hi. The Tascam x8 does have a speaker in it, but by default it is switched off. You need to go into settings to turn it on.

Q: About five years ago I bought a Tascam DR-05. The interface looks okay, but is there any point in upgrading to this?

32 bit float is essentially the selling point. If your workflow doesnt need it then maybe not. its a great product. no complaints at all.

Q: how does this device connect to internet?

Via bluetooth but you need to buy the adaptor for that. Very neat though and works flawlessly on iOS or android.

Q: Does this connect to the pc as a drive, or do you need to keep taking the SD card out?

Hello. Yes you can connect the Tascam x8 to the computer as a card reader. Go to general settings then to other settings then scroll down to SD card reader. Tap on Exec > and it becomes active. When finished, tap on DISCONNECT.
