Fun kit to start with
Fun kit to start with. The directions are reasonably clear and it includes almost everything you need to get started. You will need to supply at least a quart jar in which to culture it. I just bottled my first batch and am waiting patiently for it to carbonate now. Update: it is working great. The kefir grains are easy to work with and the finished product is very tasty. I like it best with a fruit juice for the second fermentation.

Good product though
It worked too well. I couldn't keep up. Living in Pakistan it is hard to get fresh milk. All they sale at the commissary is UHT. I had to go to a small market to buy fresh. It made kefir so fast I could not keep up. I had a fridge full. I finally gave up. Good product though. I would recommend.

Seemed great, but no go on the starter. Sad results despite following instructions.
The kit is great, but the kefir is dead. I've followed the directions, and I only got about 10 grains to grow. Not a fan of the brand

Expensive price for sour milk. Did not make Kefir
Just turned milk sour. Didn't produce good Kefir. I contacted the merchant and didn't hear back. There was such a small amount of Kefir grains that it would have taken a year to get good Kefir. Also this kit charges half of the price for a cheap strainer and a little muslin cloth.

Worked great!
I have made a few batches of this water kefir now using the same grains, the first batch never carbonated during the second ferment, but I think it is because it is so cold this time of year. I wrapped the next batch in a kitchen towel and put it in a warm spot in front of the heater vent for the second ferment and boom! It carbonated! The third batch, I added trace mineral drops and made sure to warm both the first and second ferment and even more carbonation! I think I found the perfect method! I flavored the second ferment with 1/4 - 1/3 cup tart cherry juice and topped each individual serving off with a bit more of the juice and it tastes great. Big fan!

Be sure you know what you are getting into
I'm sure this is as good as any other dried kefir grains. However, if you haven't made kefir before (and why else would you need this kit?), please do your research and don't just believe the catchy phrases like "you can do this". You will probably need to check on the kefir once an hour for a week or more during the activation process. If you have time and patience for that, more power to you! I threw my kefir grains down the drain after 9 or 10 days when they had been eating 4 cups of milk per day for a few days and still went from "indistinguishable from plain milk" to completely separated in under an hour, resulting in ages of digging through the separated "kefir cheese" in search for the grains. Oh, and the nylon mesh strainer wasn't very helpful here since nothing ever gets through it.

get yourself a brew bag
I have been using this product for a few months now and it's fantastic. from day one this kit has been super easy to use. the one thing I will recommend is getting a small (a 9" X 12" Fine Mesh Bag is what I use so it has room to grow) brewers bag and toss your grains in there. I literally lift the bag out drain the water kefir into bottles for a second ferment with juice, fruit etc. and add sugar and water back in and place the bag in and I'm done. Also, don't expect to get a fizzy soda like drink right off the bat it takes a while for it to get strong enough to do that but it will do it. Lastly, when using hinged top bottles remember to burp your bottles to let off excess pressure or it can rocket out the top and make a heck of a mess (you will understand once you have made your first few batch's as the grains get stronger). honestly just play with it and have fun with flavors.

Kefir good starter kit
I was sceptical at first since the grains were freeze dried. It took a few rounds of milk and collecting the grains, but after 3 round I got lots of grains. I stared using ultrapasterized milk and it started failing. Get pasteurized and homogenized milk to product your kefir grains. It tastes great.

The grains are still brown and like a sand deposit in the bottom of the jar ... i think they should have crystal-like shape
