Better have a powerful drill motor!
Don't think you're going to tackle your wood pile with this and your little 20 volt drill motor. Even with a full charge you're only going to get 2 or 3 splits out of this. You need some torque to make it work properly. I've got a Ryobi corded hammer drill to I used to drill through concrete. Makes this bit work great. That's the only way I've gotten it to do what it is supposed to.

OK for kindling
I used this with a Ryobi electric drill driver... it worked well for making kindling out of smaller split pieces of wood and out of scrap dimensional lumber, but it really struggled if I tried to split a larger log (4-8" diameter is a no go). It might work better with a corded heavy duty drill, but the consumer grade Ryobi didn't handle it well.

Pass
The concept is fine, but like most of these reviews say…you’re gonna break your wrists. You will need a large corded drill with 2 handles to have this work properly. I have a 18v battery operated drill and it just will not do the job and even holding with 2 hands it will not do the job. And yes, I tried on the edge of the wood!!

It broke my drill and almost broke my hand
The only thing I can say is this thing shouldn't be used with a hand drill. The bit is well made but using a hand drill with this is a mistake. The correct tool is a 1/2" either electric or pneumatic impact wrench. I tried this with a heavy duty corded drill and it almost tore my hand off. It worked well but it was so hard on the drill the reverse burned out. Then it slipped out of my hand and went crazy on its own and cut the cord in half. So what I did is I bought a 1/2 inch ryobi drill chuck from home depot and screwed a 12mm bolt into the back of it, then used my electric impact wrench with the correct socket for that bolt. It was so much easier that way and worked so much better. I would recommend the seller redesign this to accept a 1/2 inch impact wrench. Using it with a regular drill is dangerous and unpredictable.

Too small
This works well, but it needs to be at least 1 1/2 times larger in diameter. Usea it to split seasoned split red oak into smaller straps for starter wood, and one inseration close to the end as directions state would not quite do the job. It takes another insertion closer to the middle to complete the split.

Works great.
I really don’t understand why so many people are having problems using this. You can’t split an entire log with this, but that’s not what it’s for. I use this to break down already split logs in to small pieces to use to start my fires. I use this with my small Makita cordless drill and it works great.

Does not work
Promotional video make this look like the best product ever for splitting fire wood but it will not work. Bit just gets stuck and spins the wood. Avoid at all costs.

Stabil.
