SAFAVIEH Milan Shag Collection Area Rug - 8' x 10', Dark Beige, Solid Design, Non-Shedding & Easy Care, 2-inch Thick Ideal for High Traffic Areas in Living Room, Bedroom (SG180-1414)

This is a great rug: Thick and full. Very well made. Deep navy blue.But my review today is mainly to give you a word of caution: Beware of fakes being sold right here on Amazon.I ordered two of these rugs: One from Amazon, and since I liked it so much, I ordered one later from one of their third party sellers, "GlenValley Inc," (because at the time Amazon itself was out of stock.)The Amazon one was a real Safavieh rug, high quality, with thick jute backing and the Safavieh label on the back saying it was made in Turkey.The one from GlenValley was pretty much the quality of a cheap bath rug. Their rug was not nearly as dense as the real Safavieh one, the yarns were thinner, and the backing was rubber. It was a brighter blue. There was no label on the rug back, but there was a label on the package wrapping that said "Made in China." No manufacturer was specified. (See attached picture of fake rug rubber backing.)I just wanted to let everyone know the difference between the real and fake rugs. I'll be reordering a real Safavieh rug from Amazon itself to replace the fake one.Picture of fake rug rubber backing:

This is people wondering what the difference between the Milan and California Shag rugs from Safavieh. I spent a lot of time tried to figure this out and they only thing I had to go on was the QNA comments where someone said they were the same, but the Milan was a little thicker. I bought 2 California rugs and loved them. Great quality for the price, holding up nicely for about 2 year now. I wanted 2 more in a different size. I considered the Milan because the aqua blue Milan looked brighter than the light blue of the California shag. I wish I had order the California rugs again. Here is the real difference between the too. California coloring is varied, my navy has a few lighter fibers in with the mostly darker navy. The green California rug I have is also nicely varied with green colors. The varied coloring blend well and doesn't show up lint and dog hair as much as a solid color rug. The Milan is a solid colored shag. They are both the same quality, fiber length, and thickness.

Soft, plush and just what I wanted! It arrived quickly and well packaged, with the ends covered with a protective "shower-cap-type" elastic-lined fabric. It unwrapped and laid flat all but the last 2 inches or so which were flat in the morning. It does have a bit of a chemical smell, but it dissipated quickly and was not bad enough to bother us while sleeping in the same room the night we got the rug. It also had a note from the company saying how they pay attention to detail and how customer service is important (nice touch) and they mean it because I actually had them ship me 3 FREE SAMPLES before I decided on the color. Speaking of color...Trueness to Color:When comparing the swatches sent to me: white, silver and dark grey - I opted for the dark grey. BUT when I received it, the rug was actually MUCH DARKER than the sample was that they sent me! I actually liked it better, but it is almost black which is a very big difference, so BEWARE! *See pics*Compared to other rugs:This one ( Unique Loom Solid Shag Collection Snow White 4 x 6 Area Rug (4' x 6') ) was so cheaply made I could see the backing through the surface! It also claimed to be white but was a yellowy off-white and had a slippery backing that would require a rug gripper under it.My favorite rug of all time for softness is ( K-MAT 32x47 Inch Large Luxury White Bath Mat Soft Shaggy Bathroom Rugs Non-slip Rubber Shower Rugs Microfiber Washable Bath Rug For Floor Bathroom Bedroom Living Room ) but it's just a large bath rug and not available in 8' x 10' or I would have been overjoyed!The rug is beautiful and the backing is textured enough that I don't use a rug gripper under it. Anyway, after shopping for several weeks for a good rug, this one is finally the softness, plushness, thickness, non-slipperiness, color and price I wanted! I would give 5 stars, but the color difference is too drastic to ignore. Please see pics and click "helpful" if it was! Thanks!

This rug is nice and soft but there is a very strange issue with it. After about a week in my daughter's room, I stepped on it and it felt wet. I asked my daughter if she had spilled water on it and she said 'no'. So I set it outside in the sun to dry and put it back in her room the next day. About a week later I stepped on it again and it was wet again. I took a closer look and feel and it had a chemical smell to it and felt a little oily. I looked up the 1 & 2 star reviews and saw very similar comments of rug being damp, smelling like cat urine, having a chemical smell. So there is something being released by the backing material that wets the fibers. I don't know how long this will last or if it will go on indefinitely but it is definitely a nuisance having to take it outside to dry it so back it goes....

I read reviews on how nice this rug was but it doesn't compare to what it feels like in person. I almost prefer to sit on the floor than my couch at times lol. I definitely would recommend. Its beautiful and plush. My kids love it too!

I'm THAT person who reads EVERY review before purchasing a large item I know I don't want to return.The Safavieh Milan Shag Grey Area Rug (8x10) surpassed all of my expectations. I was thrilled by the plush, luxuriousness of this modern, Greige (combination grey/beige) rug. Our guests RAVE about the beauty and coziness of the rug.. I absolutely LOVE this rug. The color is exactly how you see it and the quality is amazing. The reviews are spot on- it is plush, pretty and not one fiber lost during set up. You will not be disappointed. am In the process of remodeling my last bedroom and I will definitely purchase this in another color when the new flooring is done. Michelle Eberley

Easy to assemble but may have to super glue the handle to the top of the dustpan as it comes off a lot. The broom is very cheaply made. The screw of the broom handle to head may also require adjusting as it swivels at times when trying to sweep. The feature of the broom head being able to swivel under furniture is useless because the head is too big to fit under any reasonable sized furniture. The dustpan is great as it locks into place when dumping it into the garbage. However, only the broom it came it fits for the dustpan when sweeping dirt into it. Unfortunate that the broom wasn't better constructed with longer and stronger bristles. Lightweight but cheaply made and the packaging was awful. The box was beat up during delivery.

The media could not be loaded.  If you're a purple person, you'll know what I mean when I say that this is the perfect shade. It's not the reddish purple that you often find. I ordered this area rug to break up a couple of clashing grey furniture items and also because I LOVE purple. The quality is great - it laid flat the day that we got it and it's very plush and soft. I had been looking for weeks and and to get this quality for this price is virtually unheard of. I got the 6 ft by 9 ft rug and it was right around $400. Trust me, you can't beat that, especially for this quality.Make sure you don't use the carpet attachment on your vacuum for this, this is too thick and willget caught up in the brushes.

I am super impressed with this area rug. Now in third/ fourth week having. I feel I really lucked out so far and cant believe I went through Amazon to buy a rug and succeeded, who know. It feels so luxurious on the feet and definitely soft. My dogs cant get enough. I picked the gray but it's not really that gray really just specks and it's TRUE what other buyers say. It's a perfect blend to all the neutral blends going on in my livingroom as you can see.

We bought two of these for our home in California, loved them, and were delighted to see they were also available throught Amazon.CA. Bought a third one for our home in Canada, and it's just as nice. Luscious, deep pile, a treat especially for bare feet. Lies flat (no tripping edge rolls), conceals crumb spills nicely, gentle glistening sheen. Perfect.
