Drape Drape 2

I stumbled upon these books by accident while I was looking at sewing blogs; honestly, I don't even know how I found them but I am so happy I did. I have a lot of sewing experience (was a theatrical tailor for years in, basically, a couture shop) but was TERRIFIED of knits until just a few years ago when I took a basic "sewing knits" class. Anyway, I am getting -ahem- older and it seems like there are two choices with clothing for my demographic: librarian/teacher/soccer mom or cougar/MILF. I am none of those things, and I am becoming disillusioned and demoralized every time I shop. So I was looking for cool, interesting drapey things to wear that ISN'T like the crap you see everywhere, and i feel like this is IT. It was a bit of a learning curve, and I'm glad I did a lot of research and read reviews but I busted out TWO t-shirts this past weekend already and can't wait to make more. I am thrilled with this book.

The patterns are above average, however trying to trace your own pattern pieces is a nightmare. It could have been avoided had the publisher sprung for the extra 3 color ink job and had each pattern in a different color. As it is, they are all the same color and not well labelled. The one top required 3 different pieces that are taped together then cut out of one piece of fabric.I did mange one of the tops and while super cute it is VERY small. I am a curvy 5'2 and usually a size 6 with an average bust, and cut the extra large and it was still alittle snug; not the relaxed fit I had hoped. And no way the arms holes were going to be wide enough. Will look at sizing up if I try again.

While the patterns are interesting, if you actually want to use any of them, plan on a serious investment of time just to copy off one of the patterns. All fo them are printed, overlapping, on a sheet of paper. It's nearly impossible to tell which lines go with which patterns. And even if you do get that right, the lines are so thing that it is very difficult to see then through even a think sheet of white paper. I finally gave up. Also note that the largest size is quite small. I would not recommend this series of book for anything other than sitting on a coffee table.

Love this book and it's even better in English! This is my 2nd copy. Someone stole the original Japanese edition.

Love all the photos

I enjoyed looking thru all 3 of the Drape Drape books. I can see my slender daughter in these clothes, but I wouldn't put the fashions on anyone that is not lean. I probably won't use any of the designs.

Good book. It was a gift for my son and he loved it. He stated it will be great for school.

This is a great book, it takes a little bit of time to wrap your head around the instructions as the photos inside are black and white but absolutely doable with decent drawn plans. Most of the patterns use jersey material so you may need to watch a few online videos / save small amount of additional material to practice on if you are not used to working with stretch materials. Also the book techniques are assuming you are using an overlocker, this would help considerably but is not essential. I don't have one, am not an amazing seamstress but still managed to create wearable clothes.Please note the sizing in this book, L-XL (the largest size) is still only a UK 10-12. Also make sure you've lots of paper to trace designs onto as included patterns are all printed on top of one another and need tracing off.These are the first jersey items I've sewn and whilst hemming took a bit of practise I made my first item in a day. If you like the look of the clothes just get hold of some jersey, stretch needles and have a go, its easier than you might imagine. Once you get the picture its relatively easy to pattern hack some of these designs if you want to change necklines etc. Be bold!

This book is great, lovely designs including the single piece pattern that was used in the last episode of the Great British Sewing Bee 2015 but ... and it is a very big but and you should beware. The pattern sizes , even the extra large , are tiny and will not fit an average shapely person. There are no indications of how to increase the pattern size which is really disappointing and the pieces are complex so it is a difficult to work out how to enlarge them. I understand that some other Japanese patterns when published in English have included other , more European, sizes. But sadly not this one.

This is the drape pattern featured in the Great British Sewing Bee final. This is a great book just like the first Drape Drape book. One tip to make your life easier is an Overlocker or Serger. Next is buy lots of jersey fabric and then go play. Some of the projects look difficult but as long as you know its just fabric origami you should be ok.Have fun

Bought this book after being recommended by a friend and because it has the top from Sewing Bee. I haven't been disappointed it is everything I expected it to be. Looking forward to trying some of the projects, not a book for a beginner but a fascinating challenge for an experienced stitcher. It is also useful to have some experience of pattern drafting and draping as the sizes are quite small. There are plenty of ideas for sculpting with fabric. Quick delivery, good packaging.

Bought as a replacement due to husband knocking the original into a bucket of water! Anyone who is familiar with burda magazine patterns should be fine tracing the patterns. It can be a bit confusing but the results are worth it
