We bought these February 15th with mostly all surviving upon arrival (I think we had 23 live ones). It is now April 25th and we still have about 12 ants. They are dying off little by little but it’s been fascinating to watch them for as long as we have. I would recommend buying these ants. Just make sure you have a good ant farm and switch out their food every couple of days or so. Also, be sure to refrigerate them before putting them in the ant farm and move directly from the refrigerator to the ant farm. They are super fast. They were extremely thirsty at first, all crowding the water sponge in our ant farm. They seem to like all fruits and granola bars (except ones with cinnamon).Update 07/14/2024:We still have 10 live ants. Was not expecting them to survive this long. We’ve had them for 5 months tomorrow.Update 11/17/2024:We still have 5 live ants. These ants are hardy! We’ve had them for 9 months now!Update 02/16/2025:We still have 3 live ants! I can’t believe it. We received them a year and a day ago! One year anniversary with these little ones. lol. I never expected them to last this long. If you have a Costco membership, I recommend feeding them the organic Aussie bites. They love them and I almost feel like perhaps that is why they keep going on.FINAL Update 04/10/2025:The final three ants have died. We followed the instructions that were in the packet. 10-15 min in frigefor an easy transition into grandson ant farm. Well we notice there ae only 3 living ants the others ones were dead.I just received my package on 5.19.25 @ 7:08 pm and today is 5.22.25 the queen ant is dead now.My grandson is not happy neither am I. I purchase these ants as a surprise to Celebrate his outstanding school year. The picture tells it all, we are very Disappointed.

I can not stress enough how important it is to follow the instructions. Put them in the fridge for 10-15 minutes before opening the tube. I did not do that. They seemed lethargic in the tube so I thought, yeah I have plenty of time. As soon as I popped the cap open it was like the State Patrol took and exit on the freeway. Luckily I had the new home ready because within 2 seconds one was hanging out of the tube. There was a few dead ones but that is to be expected when you order a tube of ants to be shipped clear across the country, it also didn’t help that they were on my porch for 8 hours before I got home. They were shipped via ups second day air which I’m sure is a big part of the cost. I was really glad to find that out as I was dreading fedex and their strange shipping methods that result in a lot of delays.Very good suppliers, I would recommend them to others.

Out of 25, 6 were alive.They were opened immediately after the mail delivery guy dropped them off. Hardly any were moving. The instructions sheet included with the ants said to refrigerate them for 10-15 minutes to slow them down to help make it easier to put them in the ant farm. Ours were in the fridge for 7 minutes. Placed the tube into the ant farm opening and no ants moved. Left the tube there for a while and eventually 6 crawled out.Horrible waste of money.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:My daughter got an ant farm and we ordered ants from another company. It took almost 2 weeks for them to arrive and when they did, all but five were dead. We live in Texas so finding a time when it wasn't too hot was tricky.We found these ants on Amazon and they would arrive in 2 days so we took our chances. I'm happy to report that most of the ants survived and are alert and active. Do be very careful when handling them though. Definitely put them in the fridge for 10 minutes and be ready to put them in your ant farm as soon as they're out of the fridge. We are excited and hopeful to enjoy watching these little critters!

Ordered 50 ants for my sons ant farm. He was very disappointed to see that 90% of them were dead on arrival. Over $15 for dead ants. I’ve spent money on worse things… but not many.

Bought two tubes. One tube was completely dead when I opened the package. The other tube, half died after putting in the fridge for 10 minutes.. the other half are thriving though. Sad that i bought 50 ants and only have 15 alive..
