Survival, Evasion, and Recovery: Multiservice Procedures (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force)

This is an excellent book covering a huge amount of material in a highly condensed and clear form with good illustrations. Admittedly some of this is not very relevant to most of us - evasion etc, but most is great for anyone looking to learn how to survive in the wild.Downsides? There a number, mainly due to the specific printing. First, my expectations were high - I had heard that the paper would be waterproof, and it would come with a sprial binding. It has neither of these. And although it is still slim, the pages are also odd in that there is loads of white space in each margin, which is a waste of space.So - good book, very useful, wish I could get it in a better binding.

Overall, a paperback version of the good manual I have seen in the AF, but not field ready or ideal for a survival kit since it's not the elusive weather-resistant version. My issue below...Item I thought I ordered after confirming product details over the phone with Amazon: 2006 edition with spiral binding at the top, plastic first and last page with water resistant coated pages in between.Item I received: June 1999 edition (not the 2006 edition mentioned in product details), paperback and bound at the top as pictured in the product image.

This book carries a lot of useful information on first aid, shelter making, other survival stuff. It fits nicely in my pack unlike the 1300 page AF survival book. Just dont let the cops see it as the word "evasion" and "escape" will draw unwanted attention from the victim makers.

Try other field manuals, "Left of Bang" and "Ultimate Sniper"

Nice, simple, short, and easy to carry

Content was concise and in a small package, all as desired and expected. Book was advertised on an Amazon affiliated site as also being waterproof and wirebound. It was not, nor was the replacement. Amazon subsequently confirmed that version is not available.
