It isn’t the most protective case on the market, but you wouldn’t expect it to be for this price.That said, it is actually *more* protective than I expected. Not from direct impact to the screen (since there’s nothing covering it) or a very extreme general impact (since it is relatively thin) - but I have dropped my phone in this case quite a few times, being pretty sure it would be damaged, but it’s always come out ok. Actually, one time I dropped it, the hard plastic part of the case (the colored area on the back) had cracked... which means the case absorbed a good bit of the force from the impact, isolating the phone from it - which is good. That’s why a bicycle helmet is designed to break apart if you fall on your head.I can also say, if you have a taste for Art Deco, you’ll really like the look of this case, and I get lots of comments on it from other people who like it for that reason too.My *one* small issue with it is that the opening for the headphones is just a tiny bit too snug, even for a small plug, like on the headphones that come with the phone. But the hole is in the rubber part of the case, so it was easy to trim it to be a little bigger. I think I twisted a slightly larger drill bit around in the hole, but I’m sure there are other ways. I like the case enough that this one-time hassle was no big deal.

So I have actually bought this case twice. The first was probably 3 years ago. I loved the case then with its grippy quality and cute design. It is protective, but not like super duper protective. That first case lasted me two years and then some of the gold bars started cracking and breaking off, but I was completely fine with having such a cute case break after 2 years. So I bought the exact same one, unfortunately this new case started breaking in the same way after a little over a month. Over the next 2 months the whole top v broke off. But, being lazy I continued to use the case for the year. The case has lasted otherwise pretty well. It has some bumps and marks on the gold pieces that remain, but it is entirely functional. I don't really know what to say on the case as a whole because I had two such varying experiences, that being said it is so cheap that I don't really mind.

Excellent for the start and like the feel of the phone case and the color of gold. Once I carefully place the first layer (black rubber case on to the phone then the gold design seconds with care it feels like as if the case id design well and excellent for the price. The grip design feels good and grips well with no slip. The button texture is very responsive and nice click touch to also the volume and power button.The cut out for the lighting cable, headphone jack and silent off and on button align well and not hard to access.But ran into an issue with using over the ear headphone and microphones. The cut out is too small and doesn't fit LAV microphones, over the ear headphones with large 3.5 jacks. I had to cut a bigger cut out in order for me to use my LAV, Shotgun mic, and headphones. Still excellent cse

Overall, this phone case is alright. I’ve had it for months and it’s held up rather well. It has a few scuff marks as you can see but for a simple case, it’s not bad. I would suggest buying some screen protectors along with it as those work wonders in protecting a screen with a non-protective case. This case will not protect your phone if dropped from a big height. It just won’t. That said, I dropped my phone quite a bit and if it landed on the back it was fine, even from a good height. However, drop it on it’s front and you’re potentially out of luck. I recently dropped it (again) and cracked it this time. For those people that like a slim case, it’s a good case, but protection isn’t great.

I don’t heavily use my phone, it’s either on the table, in my pocket, or in a secure pouch in my bag, but the gold on the case wore off after a few months- especially around the edges. The gold portion is a painted black plastic piece that snaps into the main black part of the case.... the slender gold plastic has snapped in a few places from taking my case off for cleaning. Not super durable unfortunately.Although I have dropped my phone a few times face first in the tile and the case prevented cracks— I was very happy with that! Sadly this case is just worn down and it’s time to get a new one... I got lots of compliments on it though!

I find the gold metal on the sides too slippery for my hands and the black portion is made of a hard black plastic which is much harder to grip than my old (see pic) soft rubber case. Also, there isn't enough overlap to protect the glass side. I added a screen protector and when I place the phone on a table with a very slight slant it slides right off the table, unlike my old softer rubber case. I think this case is hard to grip and ultimately less protective/rugged than softer rubber cases. That said, it looks nice and I'll continue to use it until I can find a more easy to grip rubberized case.

I love this case. The design is attractive and the case stays clean. This is a problem that I had with prior cases. My phone has also dropped out of the car, maybe 2.5 feet from the pavement. I have a glass screen protector on my phone so the only damage that I have seen is a few cracks in the screen protector at the bottom. That would be my only concern, that it does not offer "otterbox protection", but also is not flimsy and useless. And you have to focus on the phone to see it. I would say it offers good protection and is stylish. But, make sure you also use a decent screen protector.UPDATE: A little over 2 full years later and I am still using this case. The gold part did come off, but the case still looks fine without it. It is still protecting my phone without a screen protector.
