Q: Can this be used for automotive pourposes?

Yes, multimeter is ac or dc, and also has a continuity function which is very helpful, when checking 12 volt circuits

Q: Does it do dc amperage?

No it dosnt i found that out the hard way. I found one from southwire that does works great

Q: I work in the hvac field and would need to check capacitance. Would it make sense to purchase this?

it will check compacitors, difficult to read when working on hvac

Worth the $$.

Works as it should. Very handy for general electrical work and trouble shooting. I o ly wish o e could override the automatic shut off on the multi meter.

Great assortment of electrical testers!!

I don't know much about testing electrical around the house but I do have my son and other friends that help me around the house. I love having this Electrial Voltage test kit with different types of testers. My son and friends have commented they work really well and its a great variety of testers for different needs. Maybe one day I'll learn more about eletrical, but for now I have all the testing equipment needed and Klein brand is top notch. Would definately recommend this.
