The Story of Ruby Bridges

Was hoping this would be good to teach my 5 year old Ruby’s story, but I end up altering a lot of the language as it is quite religious. It brushes on race, but the moral of this particular story is “thanks to God”. Book quality feels quite cheaply made too.

My five year old loves this book and it inspired us to buy more books about Ruby Bridges and generally learn more about the civil rights movement

I was emotional reading this to my son. It was a brilliant book that I could read and then explain to my 6 year old son, the consequences of how someone feels when you're mean/racist/bullying/unkind. He could also see what it was for someone to come through adversity and literaly change their course of life

Excellent story telling, and beautiful illustrations full of colour
