I love this dish
I love this dish! Very roomy. I really wanted something however that allowed room on the side for a butter knife. You can lean one on the side so it does work better than the one I had before this one. For the price you can't beat it. Very cute.

TERRIBLE packaging on two levels - dish is cracked
The dish is beautiful, just as I imagined it would be. I did read the reviews where some have lamented about the ill-fitting lid that slips and slides, with no room for a butter knife and barely room to close if you use a new stick of butter. That did not matter to me, as this is strictly for me to leave small amounts of butter out on the counter so that I have softened butter whenever I need it. It's not a problem for me to cut the stick of butter up, if necessary, to ensure that it fits. And I'm not one to expect to be able to leave a butter knife on the actual dish the butter is in. If it's just me using it, I'm usually standing in the kitchen buttering just one thing (e.g., toast or biscuits), and after doing that, the knife goes straight into the dishwasher. If I have company, each person has their own butter knife, so no need to worry about a place to put it on the butter dish.So with all of those concerns put aside, I was so excited to open my new butter dish, which is just as beautiful in person as it is in the picture. But then I saw the big crack on the lid, and my excitement balloon was instantly deflated. Of course, since it's fulfilled by Amazon, I don't expect to have any issues with replacing it. But several others have also had the same complaints. Is nobody paying attention? Buy a clue!Sometimes the complaint is clearly in the court of the seller OR Amazon, but rarely both. If it's strictly or mostly an Amazon issue, I would be hesitant to penalize the seller by giving a low rating. However, in this case, I think it is clearly - and equally - a problem with BOTH.This is clearly an EXTREMELY FRAGILE item. As much as I get annoyed when things are over-packaged (either in the original box or the shipping box), this is an exception to the rule. Why, oh why - WHYYYY!!! - would the seller (or original manufacturer distributor?) package such an obviously FRAGILE item in a simple thin box with NO protection whatsoever - not even a little bit? And why would they not at least mark it as FRAGILE to get the attention of the Amazon shippers?I have no clue if the Amazon shipping process is automated in any way, but on the chance assumption that a human being is involved at least somewhere in the process when it comes to placing items in a box, why would they place a fragile item like this in a box that just barely larger than the item with just a few air bags for protection? This is especially puzzling when I consider the multitude of items I have received in Amazon where the item is barely bigger than my hand, but the box is practically big enough to use for a tree house. Really, Amazon? Really? An item such as this, in addition to needing more protection in the original retail box, and ESPECIALLY since there clearly is none, is something that needs to be in a box AT LEAST twice as big as the original box, if not larger, and surrounded by layers and layers of Styrofoam peanuts as a buffer against the predictable jostling that it will go through on its journey to the buyer's home. I've seen enough videos on YouTube about what happens to packages while they're in the hands of the shipping facility employees to know that simply marking the box as "Fragile: Handle with care" is pointless. It is beholden upon the distributor (who creates the packages) and the folks doing the shipping to ensure against "box trauma" as much as possible.BIG FAIL ON THE PART OF BOTH PARTIES IN THIS CASE! Very disappointed. I love the convenience of ordering online, but I really hate the hassle of returning things due to damage - especially when it was preventable.Rant: Off

Both the butter dish and sugar bowl were broken when they arrived. Not worth the hassle of ordering and then having to return....

I LOVE IT. The colors are so pretty, and it looks beautiful on my center island. I am not sure how much more I can say about a butter dish, lol.It is great and works just as it should.
