What a powerful book
I bought this book to help me work through my tendency to emotional eat during hard times. I never imagined how much of a blessing it would be. This book, the Word of God and the techniques used, will transform not only your mindset, but also will draw you closer to the Lord. I'm only on week 2, but this chapter on emotional/food journaling teaches you how to replace lies/patterns we believe and engage in and replace them with the truth of the Word, by renewing our minds daily. I'll admit, at first, I was hesitant about journaling about my emotions every day, and even struggled with coming up with things to write about. But as you press on its becomes easier, almost natural, to bring your thoughts captive to Christ and the truth. It's helping me not only align my emotions about eating, but also in every other area of life that brings difficulties. It has given me a new/fresh perspective on how powerful our thoughts and emotions are which can lead us astray. The principals and power within these pages, will forever change your life and bless you abundantly. The anointing on this book is poured out from the Lord.

Blessed for finding this!
So I think this is the first time in my life i write a review, but this book has been such a blessing that I needed to. I used to be in a horrible eating disorder cycle, in which I could sort of break a couple of years ago. However, the last year I have been through very emotional stuffs that triggered it again and I gained almost 20 pounds in just 2.5 months! I was feeling horrible and getting on track was just so hard. I was between buying this book and other book of this author called "Taste for Truth" but I ended buying both and I think it was the best decision. I loved that is a day by day book and it has help me to get back on track way way more easily, because my mind set is changing. This Author helps you see the TRUTH behind over eating and the TRUTH really sets us free!!!

I am transformed in my thinking around food!!!!
This book hit me where it hurt and made me see the lies that I have been telling myself as LIES. it stepped on my toes in many ways but lead for a true mindset change within my life. I used it along side my WW (formerly weight watchers) and have had major success in these 40 days. I even started a Facebook group BibleBeatingBulge and we completed this journey together. I hate that it had to end and are thinking about doing it again. BUY THIS BOOK AND REALLY let God use you.

The best bible study I have ever done
This is probably the best Bible study I have ever done. Not only does it teach you practical ways to break the strongholds of emotional eating, but it gives you strategies that you can apply to every area and stronghold of your life. Anytime I feel myself falling back into old habits, I open this Bible study and re-do the pages because it has been so life-changing.

Fantastic resource!
I rarely write reviews but this Bible study by Barb Raveling is outstanding. I have had a problem with emotional eating for most of my life and this is one Bible study that is actually working to "capture my thoughts" and make them conform to God's word. It is not a quick fix but, rather, a training of the mind to help release us from bondage to food. I recommend it highly - especially if food has been a problem for you! (And yes, I am losing weight).

If you have made it this far and you are reading reviews, buy this book. It has been amazing at not only helping me sort out emotions that lead to eating when I shouldn't, but also given me guidance in dealing with emotions period. Barb gives practical ways to renew your mind and change your thinking so that you are no longer following after the flesh, but after the Spirit! I can't recommend this book enough.

Helpful to learning how to walk in victory
I've read many books regarding setting boundaries with other people and I've never been good at it. It never occurred to me to set boundaries with myself and my eating beyond different "diet" plans, which were changing for me either other day because they "weren't working." I just started this, but what I love about this is it will help me regardless of whatever "way of eating" I'm passionate about at the moment. Between the book, the podcasts, and the app, I'm confident this will help me with more than weight loss, but also learning to walk in victory in other areas I want to change.

A commitment
This isn't a quick fix or a diet. It's a part of my faith and a journey that I'm committed to. Thank you Barb Raveling for providing great scriptural insight and practical application in this book.

Not what I was expecting
Poorly written, disorganized, to much homework/journaling, and sometimes questionable comments from the author throughout the study. This study is solely focused on weight loss, so if you’re looking for a more well rounded study on emotional eating (and your goal isn’t only weight loss) then I wouldn’t recommend this study. The author barely stays on the topic of emotional eating after the first few chapters, I felt like the whole study was more focused on the authors own personal issues rather then scripture and when she did try to make a connection with the God’s word, it either didn’t make any sense or you’d end up reading through half a gospel trying to find answers like it was a pop quiz. The only positives to this study was how much of my Bible I read, the many verses I wrote down because if it, and the time spent in fellowship with other ladies.

The truth shall make you free!
I’m not even finished with the study and it’s already helping me a ton. I honestly thought I wasn’t that much of an emotional eater, that I more just really liked food, but this Bible study is hitting me right in the heart. In a good way!!Thank you Barb Ravelling.I have been believing lies that I didn’t even realize. If you aren’t sure if you should get this, get it!!! I also recommend her book “I deserve a doughnut”. But if you don’t want to spend the money for both, there’s an I deserve a doughnut app.
